Soulja Boy: "I'm innocent, man"
(CBS) DeAndre Cortez Way, better known by his stage name Soulja Boy, proclaimed his innocence after being arrested for alleged possession of drug and weapons in Temple, Ga., according to CBS Atlanta.
"I'm innocent, man. I love you all. I just want you'll to know I'm innocent," Soulja Boy said as bodyguards rushed him to a car, according to the news station. Pictures: Celebrity mugshotsCBS Atlanta reported that officers stopped the rapper's rented Cadillac Escalade on Oct. 18 after they noticed a broken tail light. Authorities say officers smelled weed wafting from the SUV when they pulled the party over. Sources told CBS Atlanta police found more than five ounces of marijuana and $46,000 cash in the rental vehicle. Soulja Boy and the four other people in the vehicle, including the driver, were then booked on drug and weapons charges.
Also confiscated was Soulja Boy's puppy. Officers said they watched the dog until the rapper was released.
According to the station, about 50 fans waited outside Free At Last Bail Bonds in Temple, Ga. while Soulja Boy posted his $10,000 bail.
The rapper also thanked his fans on his Twitter account for their support. "Aye can I have a real n- moment? my fans was DEEP AS F- OUTSIDE THAT JAIL MAN IM SORRY!!! thats love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," he tweeted. He also posted messages promoting his new film, "Soulja Boy: The Movie," which was released the same day he was arrested.
