(CBS) Add Cyndi Lauper to the list of singers who have had trouble with the national anthem. Earlier this Christina Aguilera famously flubbed a line. Now Lauper has botched the same one.

During a performance at the U.S. Open this weekend as a part of a Sept. 11 memorial, Lauper got the same lines wrong that Aguilera flubbed at the Super Bowl in February.

According to the Huffington Post, Lauper sang, "O'er the ramparts we watched as our flag was still streaming." The correct line is "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming."

On her Twitter page, Lauper tweeted an explanation. Read it below.

Whew, I just did the anthem for the US open. It was an awesome experience.I got choked up in the middle remembering 9/11..less than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply

Rock n rollers cannot sing that kind of song......it's too complicated for them.

If you are going to sing the National Athem, then at least look over the words. My Lord! It's an insult when our own people don't know the National Anthem. I, for one, don't see what is so difficult about remembering the right words.

Yeah, I'll bet you can recall all four verses from memory too, right?

Be insulted if you want but also realize the poem "Star Spangled Banner" is so weirdly worded and coupled with such an impossible melody it's a wonder anybody can sing the anthem at all.

Especially some of the no-talent hacks who have tried. :-)

I say shut up and be thankful it wasn't Roseanne Barr singing it. Not that I don't like Roseanne, just not her singing.

She has a show called Rosanne's Nuts, reality show, and she actually talked about this. She was so nervous and when she started to mess up on the song she decided to just finish it up as she did. She was so embarrassed and feels that was the turning point on her show. During that episode she brought in a voice coach and she sang the song during a baseball game in Hawaii, still not the best singer in the world but she did sing it nicely!

This song is a very hard song to sing, I sing very well and sometimes have a hard time with singing it expecially when you think about it's meaning! I always get choked up and cry which makes it even harder!!!

People are waiting with staves and torches for someone to flub the national anthem. What I don't like is when a person adds jazz, blues and bebop runs all over the place then flubs it up. Or clearly don't know the words. Any sincere effort is appreciated.
