Whoopi Goldberg adopts kitten thrown from car on NYC bridge
Whoopi Goldberg cuddles with "Verrazano," the 5-month-old kitten abandoned at the Verrazano Bridge in New York City, on "The View," July 7, 2011.
/ ABC(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - A kitten tossed from a moving car on New York City's Verrazano Bridge has found a home with Whoopi Goldberg.
"The View" co-host posted a video of the cat, nicknamed Vinny, on her Facebook page. It shows the adorable gray kitten grooming himself and batting a feather toy with his paw.
Vinny was rescued in July. An Animal Care & Control officer who happened to be driving on the bridge witnessed the kitten being thrown.
"For all of you who remember me on 'The View' meeting Verrazano," she wrote, "I adopted him and I was finally able to take him home."
She added that her other cat, Oliver, is "not too happy" about the new family member.
But, she added, "I think he'll get Oliver to come around sooner than later."

- Oh, please! Whoopi supports the right to buy animals from pet stores, and she defends Michael Vick! Also, this kitten was just a prop, used by Julie Bank and the ACC to make people think that they actually CARE about animals. Ms Bank told "The View" that after word got out about the kitten, they received hundreds of calls from people wanting to adopt her. What a joke! Animals are killed there every day as people are trying to get through on the phones to put a hold on them so they can get there to adopt. No one answers phones at the ACC. Give them a try! I dare you! 718-272-7201 (Brooklyn ACC)

- Agree erasmus111.....stupid idiot. Someone needs to throw him out of a moving car on a bridge.

- Its difficult to believe that anyone would throw a kitten from a moving car, but on the Verrazano Narrows? Some winner that one must have been. At least he found you, but it makes me think about all of those that don't make it, or get really hurt before they die. It should be a felony to do that to any living thing. All of my cats, 11 in the past 37 years, have come to my door. Rescue, don't purchase any cat or dog, and don't take in exotics as they belong in the wild.
