"The Duchess of Cornwall has adopted a puppy named Beth from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home," Clarence House confirmed via Twitter on Monday. "Beth is a Jack Russell Terrier and was left at Battersea @BDCH when she was 12 weeks old."

Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II, is a noted animal lover, Us magazine notes, who has owned multiple Corgis over the years.

If everyone adopts and animal from the shelter instead of buying them from breeders, we can help the animal over population problem tremendously especially if they are spayed or neutered. There is nothing wrong with caring for an animal as one would care for a human child. I've rescued 11 cats over a 37 year period of my 49 years, and though it has been inconvenient at times, I'm glad I got to know them and have taken what would have become hundreds of cats off the streets had I ignored them.

How typically Anglo-Saxon: pampering a dog like a human child while human beings at the bottom of their pyramid scheme struggle to survive...

They could afford to take in hundreds of dogs and cats with their cash. However, there is nothing wrong with caring for an animal as one would care for a human child, and its not only an "Anglo-Saxon" phenomenon. Yes, there are children at the "bottom of their pyramid scheme." Maybe we could spay and neuter the human animals that are over breeding children who are starving, and that would solve that problem. If people are struggling to survive, they shouldn't have children or adopt animals until they can well afford it.
