The children were participating in a national simulcast of "Let's Move Flash Workout.'' It's part of first lady Michelle Obama's fitness campaign.
The first lady, meanwhile, was dancing (see video below) to Beyonce's song with some Washington schoolchildren.
In New York, Beyonce was wearing stiletto heels and a T-shirt emblazoned with "Let's Move."Thirteen-year-old Aisha Collier gushed "she's so beautiful.'' She told the New York Post she messed up a little when Beyonce first arrived but then got back into it and continued to dance and have fun.
Politico reports that Michelle Obama strutted her stuff at a surprise visit to Alice Deal Middle School in Washington on Tuesday, taking part in a Let's Move! event where children around the country danced to a kid-friendly version of Beyonce's hit song, "Get Me Bodied."
"I know all of you love Beyonce, right?" she said, as the children geared up to dance to the song. They shouted, "Yes!"
"Me too! Beyonce is one of my favorite performers on the planet," the first lady said. And when she agreed to remake her video and do this Let's Move! Flash Workout, I was so excited because this is what we've been talking about - that exercise and moving can be fun."
