Charlie Sheen: "I'm on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen"

(CBS) Charlie Sheen has some more to say.

The actor - who went on a stream of bizarre rants last week week that took aim at "Two and a Half Men" boss Chuck Lorre and others - is telling his side of the story in his first television interview since the controversy began.

"I have one speed. I have one gear. Go!" he told ABC News' Andrea Canning in an interview airing on "20/20" Tuesday. "I dare you to keep up with me."

Portions of the interview will also air on "Good Morning America" on Monday and Tuesday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC plans to promote the interview during the Oscars telecast Monday night.

Canning visited Sheen and his two female companions at his home over the weekend for the interview, where he told her, "I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen."

"Two and a Half Men" went on hiatus last month after Sheen entered an at-home rehab program following reported partying and a trip to the hospital for abdominal pain. CBS and Warner Bros. halted production for the rest of the show's season on Thursday, citing the "totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition" in a joint statement.

Sheen told Canning he is 100 percent clean and plans to show up for work despite the show's shutdown.

You can watch a preview here. ABC is also set to air two promotions for the interview during tonight's Academy Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Charlie Sheen ,

What are you going to do when your " Goddesses " start writting books , and talking to the muckrakers ? Or is their nature and character above this ?

You know that when they use you all up , they`ll just move on , right ?

I have two words. Ryan Stiles. Charlie can be replaced. He's getting boring anyway. Same ol' thing with him. Bring Herb over to be the other Man in Two and A Half Men. This show has great writers and a fantastic cast. Charlie's not special. The show will go on without him!!! Goodbye Charlie. Hello Herb!

Mr. Sheen, you are digging your grave. You are so deep in your addiction you can't see it, but you are. Your denial speaks volumes. Trust the family and friends and fans who are begging you to get help. Forget about the show. Forget about the women. Forget about everything else, because if you don't get help soon none of those other things will matter to you six feet under. It may seem like the world is against you because they don't agree that you are "okay;" they're not against you -- they just see your situation with a clarity your addiction won't allow you to see. Please get help.

Another sans internal compass.....

Considering that the show is written for and watched by low brows, they'll continue to watch this disaster if the show resumes production.

It's quite sad, tragic really. It's like standing in line to watch a Freak Show. Everyone's eager to view his "live self-destruction", but this man is clearly suffering from mental illness/delusions. I can see why his lack of remorse and arrogance offend, but the words are plainly coming from the mouth of a man in a highly disoriented reality. It's not something we should make sport of. Sad. Glad his show was canceled as perhaps it will force him to seek help. Personally, I have never been a fan of Sheen's or his show, but nonetheless, as a human being, I can't help but feel sorrow for him, and shame on the media for exploiting his mania.

I agree. It is beyond sad. He is self-destructing right before our eyes due to the choices he has made. Could it be that's why we read and watch videos about him ? The fact that someone can make 1.8 Million an episode with the ability to live a life the rest of us could only dream of and yet has destroyed himself. With people literally starving to death in the world we look in wonder at the CEO's, Sports Stars and "Celebrities" as if we are looking through a window at another world. Could it be that's why we don't see the compassion from people who normally give what they can for others in need ?

CBS was right to pull the plug on his show, both from a financial and moral standpoint. More on my blog at http://www.jasongriffin.net/blog/2011/2/27/charlie-sheen-cbs-does-right-thing-by-pulling-two-and-a-half.html
