Charlie Sheen rant targets Chuck Lorre

(CBS) Charlie Sheen let loose on "Two and a Half Men" co-creator Chuck Lorre earlier in the week, telling radio host Alex Jones, "I embarrassed him in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that his unevolved mind cannot process."

Sheen also said, "Last I checked, [Chuck], I spent close to the last decade effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write."

In the interview, Sheen claimed he wanted to return to work but was barred by producers of "Two and a Half Men."

In response, CBS and Warner Bros. Television said they are halting production on the show for the season.

Lorre has had run-ins with stars of his shows in the past. In a December 2010 profile of Lorre in "The New Yorker," Lorre discusses getting fired from the show "Cybill," which he created, by saying he was removed from the show because series star Cybill Shepherd was unhappy with "how the humor was being apportioned out" in the show's second season.

Shepherd told "The New Yorker" simply, "Chuck knows why he was fired."

He left "Grace Under Fire" after one season. "[Star Brett Butler] was dissatisfied with almost every line of the script," Lorre said in "The New Yorker."

Since leaving those two productions, Lorre has had more success. He is co-creator of "Dharma & Greg," "Two and a Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory" and is an executive producer of "Mike & Molly."

Sheen didn't respond well to the decision to halt production for the season on "Two and a Half Men." In a letter posted on TMZ, Sheen had more harsh words and vitriol for Lorre.

Sheen writes, "What does this say about Haim Levine [Chuck Lorre] after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows ... I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can't handle my power and can't handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words -- imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong."

It's about their relationship - and success depends upon their differences and their bond. Sheen makes that scripting work. Take him out of the mix and you take out the cool, light perspective that balances Jon's tension. Both keep the show cranking. The producers and cast know this or Sheen would have been gone long ago given the riff with Lorre. Must **** Lorre off... Funny. He deserves it. Quite a history for those who care to read more than just "rants."

write charlie sheen out and go on with the show!!! the rest of the cast are great without him...they could have charlie take a big $ job out of the country and herb split with judith and move in with alan.....the show doesn't need a drama queen like sheen...especially for what you have to pay him...pleeease don't cancel the show....write him out instead!!! charlie sheen has become an embarressment to himself!!

Hey CBS...I'd watch a "Two & a Half Men" with Ryan Stiles (Herb Melnick,on a separation from Judith ) joining Jon Cryer in the apt full time.

by nutterlady February 26, 2011 10:06 AM EST: i totally agree with ya boomstone...charlie sheen has been a great actor over the years, and it's a shame he let it swell his head soooo big that he has lost sight of any dedication to his craft he might have had at one time...he is an arogant, over paid jerk that is only playing a role that is a mild version of himself...that does not warrant his additude or his paycheck....i love everybody else on the show and would definately watch it without him...i think the idea of Herb seperating from Judith and moving in with Alan a great idea...have charlie go to England for a big $ job or something and leave the house to them....they need to write him out....not cancel the show for the other very talanted people on the show!!!

He better rein in the spending on hookers and crack and start saving his money, because he's not going to find a role like that again, one that fits within his limitations so well. Any talent he might have had for anything beyond that, if it ever existed, is long gone. The only good to come of all this is the cancellation of that God-awful show. by smoothe-man February 25, 2011 11:30 AM EST: Ithink that just because you have alot of money,that don't mean you can say what you want.I like the show but he don t need to go on tv and trash the man that gave you your millions,at the same time the creator of the show shouldn't have said what he said.so in a way he had it coming but it should have been done behind closed doors.he needs to remember he has kids and they will see this one day and i feel sorry for them due to the world is going to be different.also i would like to say that iam sorry for the father good man,and his brother he is an imbarrasment to them.my kids think that to be a star you can do what ever you want and get away with it.and last his co-stars what about them.; Reply to this comment

This would be a hit. then if Charlie Sheen comes back to reality bring him back. if he does not. Then write him off the show completely. EVERYONE IN REPLACEABLE
