It didn't take long for Charlie Sheen to respond to the decision to pull the plug on "Two and a Half Men."

Just minutes after it was announced that production on the popular sitcom would be halted because of Sheen's incendiary remarks about the show's producer Chuck Lorre , the show's star let loose with even more vitriol. In an open letter given to TMZ, the actor called Lorre a "contaminated little maggot" and "earthworm," wishing the producer "nothing but pain."

He also appealed to his "beautiful and loyal fans" to help him "right this unconscionable wrong."

The letter, which was posted on TMZ's website, reads:

What does this say about (Chuck Lorre) after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows ... I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can't handle my power and can't handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words -- imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.

Remember these are my people ... not yours...we will continue on together...

Watching the tube this a.m., and saw an interview, a lot of ranting, senseless rhetoric, and thought, oh, no, Charlie Manson again, and he's cut his hair. But it was a different Charlie. It was Sheen! If this is Charlie Sheen off drugs, I pity the poor people that had to work with this guy. Such self-worship and pretense, and he's right and everybody else is wrong, and it's everybody else's fault. Whew. CBS, if you cave in to this, you are just as nutty.

CBS Just love the show. Hope you can find a replacement. Sheen needed to go, no one should have to work in that environment. I am sure that there is someone out there that can replace him. PLEASE don't kill the show...

I for one am glad this show is finally gone.
For the life of me, I never did understand the fascination for folks to watch Charlie and this show. He played himself, Obnoxious in life, Obnoxious on the show.
Applaud to CBS

I guess when you're overpaid that much what do you care? It's a shame Charlie Sheen seems so ungrateful. But I believe these TV studios create their own monsters... I'll miss the show but not Charlie's attitude.

Holy crap. I had no idea Charlie Sheen was out of his mind.

What the hell kind of statement was that? It looked like a coked out, drunk, angry rant typically found after 2am on someone's voice mail.

This was the first time I've read a complete statement by this guy and he is a certified loon.

I thought the show was funny and watch it, but after reading this, I don't want that POS gettting any my ratings ($'s) anytime in the future.

Feel that POWER Charlie, you retard.

Thank goodness the show was stopped. I, too, stopped watching after his Christmas tirade a year ago. Charlie Sheen needs to be put away.

He could be used as an object lesson on the effects of alcohol and drugs to your kids though.

CBS: Bless you for doing something about this rabid man. If he is ignored, he will eventually go away.
