Victoria Jackson: "Obama is a communist"

Two stars of this year's CPAC: Newt Gingrich and Victoria Jackson

(CBS) - "Saturday Night Live" alum and conservative firebrand Victoria Jackson has become a voice in the national political conversation. The comedian has become prominent in the Tea Party movement, attended this year's Conservative Political Action Conference. She's also been telling anyone who will listen about her guiding belief in politics: Obama is a communist.

Jackson has been making waves in the political world since the national emergence of the Tea Party in 2009. The 51-year-old admits she had little interest in or knowledge of politics before the election of President Obama. "In my 20s, Reagan was president. I felt secure. I didn't have to vote," she writes in an article for Big Hollywood.

But for someone who's new to the political world, Jackson has not hesitated to dive right in. "Progressive is the new word for communist," Jackson said on a March 2010 episode of Fox & Friends. "It's the same goal as government control of everything and it's very obvious that Obama is trying to do that."

At this year's CPAC Jackson was on the scene selling copies of her new album. One of her songs is titled, "There's a Communist Living in the White House."

As a member of "Saturday Night Live" in the 1980s and '90s, Jackson worked with now-Sen. Al Franken. Is Jackson the Tea Party's answer to Franken's liberal politics? She seems to have found her calling as an outspoken conservative. She told CNN during CPAC, "I only woke up because we elected a communist."

First of all, maybe we should start saying that all the people who didn't Bush are racist bastards since that's what you all call those of us who don't support Obama. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. I would've voted for Morgan Freeman in a heartbeat! Second, there is no point in arguing with these simple minded people. I have learned that most Obama supporters and those who lash out at we who have educated opinions don't know the first thing about politics and probably didn't do very well in Government or Economics class in high school. Maybe we should stop judging people by their party or by their skin color and start judging them for the people they are and maybe we should get all the facts and not just those the politicians and the media want us to have. Then maybe we can make this country great again!

Dont care if you like Obama or not, thats up to you, but if this woman just started looking into politics as of the last few years which she implies in the story, well, she is pretty much an idiot. She doesnt know that much about politics yet. Sure she has her opinion, which is cool, but like us, she has one vote, and just because she WAS an actress, why do people even listen to her? Thats what pisses men off the most.

Unfortunately, even in a communist state - you can't legislate against stupidity. Sad but true.

First that idiot Dennis Miller and now Victoria Jackson? Anyone associating with the tea party and GOP who isn't worth millions (maybe these two are) are idiots slitting their own throats.

Does it offend you when people are worth millions? FYI, if I had to guess, Victoria Jackson is not worth millins unless she won the Powerball somewhere along the way. SNL actors get paid next to nothing and she's hardly worked since then.

This is a ploy by the tEAbAggers, throw an absolute idiot out there to make sArAh pAlIn appear more intelligent and less stupid as well. However, the two of them together is definitely dulling the luster of the T-baggers influence. Come on Fox, you're killing us here....

No she's not. Being a Tea Partier/Republican does not require critical independent thinking.
