Charlie Sheen was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning with severe stomach pains. Earlier, his rep, Stan Rosenfield, told People, "All I know is what I was told - that he was having severe abdominal pains."

Now we know the reason: The LA Times reports that Sheen has a hiatal hernia. The intense abdominal pain was a result of that.

Charlie Sheen Rushed to Hospital for Stomach Pain

According to the Mayo Clinic, a hiatal hernia occurs when "part of your stomach pushes upward through your diaphragm. Your diaphragm normally has a small opening (hiatus) that allows your food tube (esophagus) to pass through on its way to connect to your stomach. The stomach can push up through this opening and cause a hiatal hernia."

Ouch. The condition can cause severe pain. In some cases it requires surgery.

The LA Times reports that "Two and a Half Men" is on hiatus this week and production is scheduled to resume Monday.

No it wasn't related to drugs. That's why he ran off to rehab the minute he got out of the hospital. Because they have hiatal hernia rehab now, doncha know.

Can you get a hiatal hernia from having cocaine-fueled sex with prostitutes?

hey Charlie.. its not the end of the world. Quit drinking!! Exercise more and lose weight. Use the Pantoloc (best stuff ever) and NO stress or spicy foods... You will survive !! I've had the condition for over 5 yrs and have not had to have surgery yet. And with the medication (Pantoloc) the hernia has actually shrunk.

Man, say what you want about the guy, but hiatal hernias are seriously painful. My husband has one flares up if he eats and lays down afterwards. Unbelievable pain. But you really don't have to be hospitalized for it...All they do is physically pull the part of your stomach that is stuck under your ribcage downward, but you can do this yourself.

And that doesn't really solve the problem. My husband found relief from this site: http://******/fsLCkZ If you have any type of digestive pain, definitely check it out. Poor Charlie :) all his "extracurricular activities" can't possibly help his hiatal hernia situation...
