NEW YORK (CBS) George Clooney says he has no interest in getting married again.

While appearing on "Piers Morgan Tonight" Friday with his father Nick Clooney, the 49-year-old actor talked about his love life and obliquely said that his one marriage to actress Talia Balsam, which ended in 1993, will be the only nuptials on his record.

"I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married, so I gave it a shot," he said. "I've proven how good I was at it, and I just...I'm allowed one."

Clooney and Balsam tied the knot in Las Vegas in 1989.

Clooney, who recently contracted malaria during a trip to Sudan earlier this month, is now dating Italian model Elisabetta Canalis.

Since their divorce, Balsam, 51, has been featured in a handful of movies and TV shows, including "Murder, She Wrote," "Without a Trace," and "Mad Men," in which she plays the ex-wife to Roger Sterling, played by her husband, actor John Slattery. She also is the daughter of actor Martin Balsam.

She currently can be seen playing Natalie Portman's mom in the just-released film, "No Strings Attached."

What crazy woman divorces George Clooney? Is she nuts? George Clooney can eat crackers in my bed anytime! He can throw his dirty laundry on the floor! He can leave wet towels laying around. He can even leave his dirty dishes in my sink too!

Ooh baby!

Why are you assuming she divorced him? He is actually the one who walked away from her. ("[Talia] was the girl I chased and was in love with, the girl I always wanted to marry. I was 28, and in Kentucky when you get to be that age, you're supposed to get married, and you know exactly what the marriage should be like. I had this image of marriage. When ours didn't exactly fit that image, I thought it didn't work. I wasn't very bright about it. We had to reconstruct our marriage a little bit, and I wasn't willing to do that. I walked away. I could have been scared. Maybe I wasn't ready to be married. It was my fault all the way down the line.") So yeah, HE is the one who walked away from the marriage...not her.
