(CBS) Mick Jagger isn't the only one Keith Richards maligns in his autobiography, "Life," which is due on bookstore shelves Oct. 26.

In the book, co-written with Richard's pal James Fox, the guitarist takes swipes at former Rolling Stone band mates Brian Jones and Mick Taylor and calls Beatle John Lennon "a silly sod" and poet Allen Ginsberg "a gasbag."

: But he reserves his longest and strongest rants for Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger, whom he calls "Disco Boy" and with whom he has been exchanging barbs for nearly four decades.

"It was the beginning of the Eighties when Mick started to become unbearable," Richards writes in "Life." But in pre-publication interviews he has given, Richards laughs off the barbs in the book.

"We've had our beefs but, hey, who doesn't? You try and keep something together for 50 years," he told The Times of London.

The autobiography covers Richards' life from early childhood, through the years of drug dependency to the present.

This is genius. The Glimmer Twins know every trick in the press manipulation game playbook - and they should, considering Mick and Keith have been toying with the media since they were mere teenagers. Now, 50 years later, you guys still fall for every little twist that the bad boys turned bad men turned bad men of a certain age throw down. That's what so cool about the Stones - they still get away with everything. Whether it's executing rock n' roll mega tours that put all the youngsters to shame, defiling women a quarter their age, or bleeding the press for priceless pre-tour publicity, Mick and Keith are still doing what the rest of us wish we could.

God Speed Rolling Stones!
