NEW YORK (CBS) Bill O'Reilly got into a heated discussion on "The View" and his comments about the mosque near Ground Zero prompted two of its co-hosts to walk off camera while the show was on the air.

The Fox commentator was a guest on ABC's talk show Thursday to promote his new "Pinheads and Patriots" book. The discussion got increasingly heated over the "Ground Zero Mosque" debate and he later went on to say "Muslims killed us On 9/11."

Co-Host Whoopi Goldberg disputed O'Reilly's claims that the mosque was inappropriate. "There were 70 families who are Muslim who also died in that building," she said.

"Seventy percent of Americans don't want that mosque down there, so don't give me the 'we' business," said O'Reilly to co-host Joy Behar; the studio audience applauded.

Afterward, when pressed by Goldberg and Behar to explain why the "Ground Zero mosque" was somehow "inappropriate," O'Reilly leaned over and pointed at Goldberg saying, "Muslims killed us on 9/11."

"That is such bullsh*t," Goldberg exclaimed in the midst of a cacophony of back-and-forth yelling.

Goldberg shouted "What religion was Mr. McVeigh? [referring to Timothy McVeigh, the convicted American-born terrorist who blew up the Oklahoma City Building in 1995] Mr. McVeigh was an Extremist as well and he killed people," before she and Behar walked off the set in protest. They later came back to finish the show.

Barbara Walters criticized her co-hosts for walking off stage during the live show. But she said O'Reilly should make the distinction that extremists committed the terrorist act.

Behar and Goldberg returned after O'Reilly said that "if anyone felt that I was demeaning all Muslims, I apologize."

I agree with Bill on this issue. I am not racist nor am I a bigot. I have absolutely nothing against any religion including the Muslim faith. I myself belong to a minority religion. However, I believe very strongly that it is not appropriate to build a Mosque at ground zero. It was muslim extemists that caused and attacked America. When people say.."what does their religion have anything do with it?" I say...IT HAS EVERTHING TO DO WITH THIS! These extremists did it in the NAME of their religion and their God!! I understand that not all muslims are extremists and i also understand that a large percent of the muslim population are a peaceful people. However, they have a very dangerous extremist organization attached to that religion. As a result, it is not appropriate to build a mosque so close to ground zero. It is very insensitive to people who lost loved ones on that day. If someone in my family killed someone in your family, would you want me to buy the house next door to you? NO... it's not appropriate!I really have to question the motives behind those that support this. You would think they would want to distance themselves from more controversary after 9/11.

P0ST1ING_AWAY==Oh please!!! Peace loving muslims...oxymoron..I bet you're bending over for one of those peace loving muslims right now. They are bent on taking over by having tons of children; prolific as rats. Heads will roll and maybe, just maybe, yours will be one of them. The only reason that there seems to be moderate muslims is because they will do anything to lull americans, like you, into thinking that they are peace loving. What ********. The Quran will guide them to their final destination..which is taking over/destroying the US and Israel.

This goes to show you that when you try to have a discussion with liberal idiots, they will try to drag you down to their level and defeat you with their "experience".

FACT of the matter is that Islam means "peace" when one "submits and surrenders" to their (sharia) way of life and their moon-god-allah. If you don't submit to this idealogy, THERE IS NO PEACE!!

Never has, is, nor will be.

I hope this discussion continues because you have to ask...what is a "true" muslim? What about those terrorists claiming the "moderate" Muslims are not really Muslims and denounce their cowardice? How do we know which faction represents Islam most closely? Who is the "true" Muslim?

As we can't rely solely on personal examples because of our flawed nature, we must go back to the source documents, traditions. and/or hierarchy of the faith right?

Well then...look no further than the Koran. The Koran qualifies as HATE speech on each count if you brought it to court. The "holiest" book of Islam (over 60% of which is about non-Muslims) draws the sharpest of distinctions between Muslims and non-believers, lavishing praise on the former while condemning the latter. Far from teaching so-called "universal love", the koran incessantly preaches the inferiority of non-Muslims, even comparing them to vile animals and gloating over Allah's hatred of them and his dark plans for their eternal torture. Naturally, the harsh treatment of non-believers by Muslims is encouraged as well.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

It's too bad we have arrived at a time when yelling, interrupting and talking over someone else, twisting someone's message, talking down to someone to belittle their opinion, and storming off provide entertainment at a time when courtesy and understanding are so critical to understanding any issue. If we cant even discuss issues and try to understand apposing opinions, how will we ever solve the enormous problems facing all of us. I think the facts presented from both sides of any issue is interesting. Uninformed opinion and uncontrolled emotion are tedious. Twisting the truth in order to get some advantage is completely dishonest , and yet we get more of it every day...from both sides. Is it any wonder many people dont express their opinion? Our country is in a total leadership void.... Our media has lost their way...All participants should take stock of what the unintended consequences are for this type of shameful display.

The Mosque is not the issue that weather the Muslims have the right to build the mosque at that place or whether they have constitutional and moral rights to build the mosque or not. This is a debate for some other day. This is just a clever and cunning tactic to deflect the real issue. The real issue is we American have full right to know what happened on 911, who did it and why. We like to know clearly the truth behind all unanswered questions. We don't want the government to feed us some nonsense reason or to show us some idiotic video to let us believe what they want. We like to have a scientific investigation done on it. We know that our forensic expertise are so advance that they will have no problem in solving the mystery. In fact there are so many witnesses alive and hardcore evidence are there that this case will be over in no time. We know that last time the money spent on investigation was so small as compared to millions of dollar spent on Clinton and Monica Lewinsky case. We like to know what really caused the building to collapse in a free fall speed which only happens in case of demolition. We like to know what caused the building # 7 which is 49 story steel building far away from twin towers to collapse in a free fall speed even though it was not hit by any plane. We like to know why NORAD was not able to fly quickly any fighters even though there was 45 minutes delay when Pentagon was hit by a plane. And defiantly there are tons of other questions waiting to be answered.

Our country is destroying and plundering and mass murdering other nations (Iraq, Afghanistan), killing innocent people in millions for 911. They are using tax payers money in trillions and also our men and women are dying, the country is polarized in ethnic, racial and religion basis all due to that. If this is such a big issue that our country's survival is on stake then we have the right to know all the answers of all these question. Don't try to treat us like a 10 year old kid. I think if it is genuine case that some crazy group attacked us then not only American but all the world will come and help us including the Muslims of the world. They will help us to find and arrest the real culprit and bring them justice and end the case. But if there is a hidden agenda and Inside job then only there is Vail of secrecy like this and media and government will deflect us to some other nonsense issue like the ground zero mosque case. Let us deal with the real issue first and soon this mystery is solved all other issues will be dissolved in thin air. Now media is playing a big role in covering up this case, you can see as soon someone brings up the case the moderator just try to disregard the case by not listening to people and just letting them sit there like an idiot and lecturing them with a loud voice, calling these people as conspiracy theorist who believe in Asians, UFO or Alvis Parsley alive etc.
This country has been brain washed and taught by propaganda that it is hard for the masses to believing something else then what the media says.
It doesn't become a news unless the media will tell them and if the media tells them then they will not use any commonsense to argue them. They fail to realize that the media in this country is owned by a small group of people and corporations who have their own agenda. Bill O Reilly is just one of them and he is doing a very good job for his masters by suppressing and discrediting genuine decent and question and finally to deflect them to some non important issue.
I think Muslim bashing and Islam phobia has become pretty accepted and fair play for any TV Pundits as compared to criticizing against Jews and afro-American, like in the case of Rick Sanchez who was sacked just by saying that Jews control the media. It was considered as anti-Semitic statement. But bashing and categorizing Islam and Muslims who have almost 1.5 Billion followers is nothing. Nobody will sack them, and they will be also defended by the so-called human rights champions and then they will blame Muslims who got offended by such statement that they can?t tolerate free speech, they are undemocratic and uncivilized. They fail to recognize that more than 70 Muslims families are there who lost their loved one in 911 and there are majority of 911 families who have not given any permission to any media or government to act on their behalf and to loot, mass murder and kill innocent people in their loved ones name. I think its a great insult to the people who gave their lives in 911 to be used by these THUGS. I think 911 victims and family will be in much peace when the real 911 culprit will be brought to justice. They will be in peace when the real story will be told, they will be in peace when America will reach the world with love and compassion and not war and destruction.

I thought this stupid arguement was over long ago. Oh the news pumps it with inflammatory gas bag o'reily. Let's not forget Christian militia in Idaho that was caught planning to murder 46 police to start a revolution. Let them build their Mosque. Maybe it can replace the stip joint that is there. People forget people of all religions and ethnicity were killed in the WTC. Thank god the majority got out of the buildings!!

Since when are Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar significant commentators? Their careers have been made as COMEDIANS. Seriously, these women did stand-up comedy and now they are telling the mindless masses of at-home Moms how to think? "The View" is only about their "view", not encouraging the audience to think for themselves.

The 9-11 terrorists were Muslims. They don't represent all Muslims, but they were still Muslims. So Bill was correct in what he said.
