Organized by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, the Fashion's Night Out show was designed to showcase fall fashions already in stores in advance of the global Fashion's Night Out event on Friday. The fashion show was webcast live on CBS.com and will be aired on CBS. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m.
The brainchild of Wintour, the two-year-old Fashion's Night Out aims to spur sales in a sluggish economy and to make fashion more accessible to everyone. Stores around the globe are featuring special sales and events for shoppers Friday night, showcasing designers, models and other celebrities.
Tuesday's show gave a taste of what is available in stores and highlighted the fall season's hottest trends -- 1950s retro, The Roaring Twenties look and music video styles. The biggest names in the modeling business -- Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell and Adriana Lima , to name a few -- were among the string of 150 models who trouped off red double-decker buses to take the catwalk.
There was a surprise performance by Pharrell, and Neil Patrick Harris was host . But the most famous faces were in the audience. There were designers (Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, and Zac Posen), athletes (Amare Stoudemire and Roger Federer) and actors ( Blake Lively and Leighton Meester).
The fashion show and Friday's Fashion's Night Out kick off New York Fashion Week, which runs through Sept. 16. The semiannual event moved this season to Lincoln Center from Bryant Park, its home for the last 13 years.
Runway shows start Thursday and will feature designer fashions for the spring of 2011.
