NEW YORK (CBS) Tennis star Venus Williams has done it again!

The 30-year-old athlete, whose sartorial choices sometimes overshadow her tennis prowess, had tongues wagging at the U.S. Open this weekend over her latest tennis costume.

The skimpy form-fitting outfit she wore on the tennis courts Sunday featured a hot-pink top, a very short dark-colored bottom and was decorated with glittering fireworks, which Williams told an interviewer was her tribute to New York.

The No. 3-seeded Williams beat the 16th-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel 7-6 (3), 6-3 Sunday.

This is not her first foray into questionable court fashion. Williams drew whistles when she appeared on the court in Paris in May in a lacy, red-trimmed, black can-can outfit with a corset-like top and a tutu skirt that gave the illusion of being see-through.

The design-trained, top-seeded player player, who has her own fashion called EleVen, told the press it was all "about illusion."

Months before that, an Australia Open outfit with a flesh-colored bottom had everyone wondering whether she had gone commando.
