- What a pleasure to have had Erika and Harry and sometimes Julie on the Early Show for the past few months. Then, Maggie came back and we're back to the snide remarks, unnecessary corrections to others, and general rudeness, especially to the men who are part of the team and even on occasion guests. It certainly was nice to have Maggie out of the picture!

- Sorry to hear about Harry's hand. I got a real chuckle today, however, from the naivete of his political commentary on the radio. He was talking about how to fix the government's fiscal problems. Most of what he said made sense, but then he said something about reducing Social Security payout for the "baby boomers". He implied that this was some kind of entitlement program that "baby boomers" are taking advantage of and will soon be bankrupt. I too wish the government would do away with SS and just send me a check for what I've paid in over the years. I wouldn't even ask for any investment income. The reality is of course, if the government did away with SS it would have been bankrupt many years ago. Either that or new taxes would be needed to pay for all the non SS programs that the SS money funds. Very little has been put into the SS trust fund. If it had, funding for SS would be a nonissue today.
