NEW YORK (CBS) Three generations of women pose side by side in a newly released photo from Chelsea Clinton's wedding.

The image shows the bride posing with her mother, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and her grandmother, Dorothy Howell Rodham.

Pictures: Chelsea Clinton's Wedding Day

The picture shows more of Clinton's ivory strapless gown with a laser-cut organza ballgown skirt and a sparkly belt, which was designed by Vera Wang, and also gives a better look at her mother's dress, a fuchsia gown with floral details by Oscar de la Renta.

A guest at the wedding told People magazine that when the mother of the bride walked down the aisle, "it took your breath away."

"She looked stunning-like a princess. She was beaming," the guest continued.

A friend of the secretary of state added that she was "so thrilled and over the moon about the dress" and her role as mother of the bride.

And another friend of the Clintons told the magazine it was important that Chelsea's grandmother, seen in the photo wearing a grey dress with a sparkly brooch, was included in the big day.

"It was so important to Hillary to share her daughter's day with her own mother. When the three of them are together Hillary isn't the secretary or the senator or the celebrity -- she is her mother's daughter and her daughter's mother."

Chelsea Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky in a much-talked-about ceremony last Saturday in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

This is such a beautiful picture of the three ladies together! I also found a wonderful wedding slideshow that visualizes dad Bill Clinton's feelings on his daughter's wedding. Must see!!

I'm not a big fan of Hillary politically, but I've never seen her look prettier or happier. Congratulations!

I'd rather watch paint dry AND grass grow, than hear about all the wonderfulness of the Clintons anymore.

Hillary, her mother and Chelsea look extremely beautiful in that picture. I wish the best for Chelsea and her husband in their beautiful marriage. From the pictures I seen of Chelsea and her husband they definately look in love. And the picture of Bill Clinton walking his daughter down the isle was the best. I put it on my desktop.

A lovely photo. Hillary looks beautiful and very genuine and sincere. Why not a photo of the bridesmaid's dresses (don't have to show their face) and the cake. This is a great chance for people to see the other side of Hillary, but such secrecy for no reason seems odd. What's the harm in seeing the dresses and cake!

I agree with you. They should have showed pictures of the bride and groom at the alter and the bridesmaids along with the best man. Why would those pictures be hidden. Also, the wedding reception where they cut the cake they did not show. What is the big secret.

ummm...maybe it's because we are not friends or family of either the bride or groom? she is a private citizen who wished to have a private wedding. she released a few photos to keep the vultures at bay, but frankly, she didn't need to do even that.

as my dad would have said, kwitcherbellyachin'. you got more than you were entitled to.

The bride looks astonishing, but Hillary really takes my breadth away. She has such a gorgeous feminine dress, never have I seen her more beautiful. Great photo.

But she's still a dog.

I can't understand your reason for calling her a dog. She is ten times smarter than Obama with more experience in politics that he hasn't learned yet in the year and one half he's been in office. Hillary don't need him he needs her. She looks beautiful in that dress and very proud of her daughter.

Grandmother Dorothy looks great, what a wonderful picture. My grandmother passed away when I was in third grade, and I've missed her every day since then.
