NEW YORK (CBS) The grandson of Frank Sinatra has been hospitalized after reportedly attempting suicide.

Authorities responded to a 911 call for a possible suicide attempt on Monday afternoon in Downey, Calif., law enforcement sources told TMZ.com.

Pictures: Frank Sinatra

The 32-year-old son of Frank Sinatra Jr., who is also named Frank, had consumed too many pills, but was conscious when authorities arrived on the scene, according to the report.

Sources told the website that the Chairman of the Board's grandson has always shunned the spotlight that came with his family's famous name.

A phone call placed by People magazine to Sinatra's room at the Downey Regional Medical Center was answered by a woman who identified herself as the patient's "Aunt Dorothy."

Confirming that Sinatra was there, she told the magazine, "He's doing okay. He had a big setback. Let's just say it's very similar to what his father went through with Ava Gardner. He's been having a very tough time. He's doing better now. We think he'll pull through."

Ferrell-2 says:
Sarah Palin will not be a presidential candidate in 2012 due to the simple fact she won't be nominated by the Republican National Commitee. The stakes are too high for the RNC to vote for anyone with questionable qualifications such as hers but rest assured she will still get a lot of ink and air time. That will be fine as long as she's campaigning for someone else. The Republicans cannot win the presidency without a lot of Democratic votes and I'm afraid Sarah Palin wouldn't get many, if any, from the Dems. None of us know who the GOP will nominate to run for president in 2012 but it's a foregone conclusion it won't be Sarah Palin.

As another poster noted, it would have been his grandfather who went through something with Ava Gardner. The original People magazine source does quote Aunt Dorothy has saying grandfather, not father.

But there are also reports floating around the Internet that this is all a case of mistaken identity:

Wonder what's up here?

This story doesn't exactly track. "Aunt Doroty" said it was a setback "very similar to what his father went through with Ava Gardner". But that would have been grandfather.

To all: Evidently, syfinley can't deal with the lack of two to three Sarah Palins stories courtesy of CBSnews! Well, get over it, 'Sy'! It's only
one day, there will probably be three stories about her tomorrow! I can
hardly wait!

Wow, what does Sarah Palin have to do with Frank Sinatra's grandson?? But since you brought her up "syfinley", I will put in my 2 cents worth of what I think of her. I lost all respect for her after seeing her being interviewed by Katie Couric. It truly scared me that someone running for the office of Vice President would be stumbling on all answers to questions posed by a reporter. It showed me she was not prepared... If Sarah Palin is elected in 2012, it will truly be the end of "the Roman Empire" and it will definitely show the stupidity of the American people. Yes, she is beautiful...but I don't think she is qualified to be VP or President. Perhaps someone's secretary.

Okay, the comment about Sarah Palin has nothing to do with this article. But, since you brought it up, Sarah Palin is very pretty but has absolutely no class. I'm not jealous of her looks or lack of class, since she has no class. She is crass, stupid and is about as qualified to run this country as her daughter. Obama has made us safer by giving us more respect throughout the world. Having a bimbo in the White House would only make us a laughingstock - again.
