Now, we know why CBS keeps canceling its long-running soap operas.

When "As the World Turns" ends in September, it will be replaced by an hour-long daily talk show with six co-hosts, all women, an echo of ABC's popular "The View'' series.

The show has no name yet, but it has an eclectic group off hosts including Julie Chen, who hosts "Big Brother" and is a co-anchor on "The Early Show."

She will be joined by "America's Got Talent" judge and former "Celebrity Apprentice " contestant Sharon Osbourne; Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene Conner-Healy on TV's "Roseanne" and has recently been added to the cast of "The Big Bang Theory;" Holly Robinson Peete, who challenged Bret Michaels for last season's "Celebrity Apprentice" title; Broadway actress and former "Dancing With The Stars" contestant Marissa Jaret Winokur; and actress Leah Remini of "The King of Queens."

CBS said Wednesday that the new show will take a mom's view of entertainment and news stories. All the panelists have children and several have celebrity mates. Osbourne is the wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne; Peete is married to former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete; and Julie Chen is the wife of CBS CEO Les Moonves. Gilbert is a lesbian mom, raising two children with partner Allison Adler.

Wow, so many hoops just to leave a comment......however, one must put this into perspective. I'm not an ABC kind of person, but I must say this show, YEOW girls, you're not The View and I don't think you ever will be!! CBS give it up, you have several Hollywood, need I say??.....hasbeen's. Look it up, give a good look see at these careers. I'm sorry but what a bore. I mean Adam what's his face?? Wasn't he like 2007/08??? At least if your going to try and bore us to death, do it with the most popular boring person, and get Justin Bieber so you can at least say you had one hasbeen on, from another. Seriously, doesn't CBS have anything better to do with it's time slots now that the soap opera genre is over?? Good luck ladies!! Fran the nanny tried this as she too was once part of the CBS lineup, going going..............GONE!! Loved you all in the 80's and 90's but your talk show now.........OBSOLETE!! :)

So I am 26 and got to enjoy this show only once while they were discussing the Marie Claire article. I was fascinated a group actually has the heart to not judge the world on there weight, race, and gender. This is a huge concern in america. Americans need to realize its almost 2011 over half the US is overweight. You don't like what you see then don't look. I believe its more disgusting to see how Americans are treating one another then what someone looks like.

I agree that we need to hear from all sorts of voices, and not all celebrities. I'm an author of a memoir about three generations of adoption, absent fathers, and an alternative family. There's lots to discuss in BLOOD STRANGERS (Heyday, 2010) by Katherine Briccetti and it makes a great book club read!

Still looking for a name for the show??? How about 'It's for your own good'. Looks like everyone has an opinion. I'm not going to make any predictions about how well the show is going to be received by moms, but as a mom, I find this concept very exciting. Whether it turns out to be a program that succeeds depends on whether or not the comments and views of the women on the show resinates with the viewers. Hopefully it wont be too PC. I also hope that there is no leftist agenda. My guess is that there will be alot of conservative moms with a christian world view that check out this show. It will be interesting to see if there is anything discussed on this show that is relative to our life experiences and views. I will be watching. Hope we will be able to critique via FB... also hope you will have special guested occasionally, like Hillary Clinton, Sara Palin, jenny mccarthy, you know, Women with interesting and valueable life experiences as Mom's with particularly interesting circumstances. Good Luck & keep it real!!

Mom's with valueable life experiences!! Are you kidding.....these (mom's) you mentioned are celebrities ONLY. Geez, try moving around to just the people in your neighborhood and give them a good whirl. Those are the real mom's the one's with the "real" life experiences. They're the one's without nannies and maids and private schools and unlimited bank accounts. These dopes are all throw away actresses with dried up careers and who cares what they think. At least on The View, have to give a few of the ladies credit for journalism degrees. Just what I need, advice from Leah.

Cleveland ohio had a morningshow called "That's Life" hosted by Robin Swaboda. I tried to get her producers to include a segment about prenatal care, OBGYNs, newborns, etc. So I hope this show will tackle some of these important topics.
1) A large percentage of expecting mothers are arriving at the hospital to deliver a newborn and have not attended a maternity class - and most of the classes are free to attend! There are few PSAs incouraging attendance.
2) maternity nurses are sending newborns home with mothers and a "doggy bag" of information in hopes they read it. Maternity nurses get very little time to spend with mothers as most are discharged a day earlier than was past practice due to the cost of hospitals and medical insurance companies.
3) very few mothers & fathers know what "newborn eye prophylaxis" is.
Even less are even discussing it with their OBGYN prior to delivery. Avoid silver nitrate drops (may cause near sightedness & harsh) ask OBGYN to use Erythramiacin ointment or Sterile Povidone Iodine (used to sterilize eyes before eye surgery). Women delivering at home can use their initial breast lactation following delivery as it contains antibiotics. All states make newborn eye prophylaxis mandatory by law and has to be recorded on the birth record.
4) very few expecting mothers know the importance of and how amniotic fluid measurements should be taken and recorded - and what it indicated. First part of pregnancy mother produces most of fluid. Second part of pregnancy the fetus/baby produces most of the amniotic fluid. So taking these measurements throughout a pregnancy is important in helping the OBGYN promptly recognize if there is a dehydration issue and its cause.
5)Birth Record or Birth Certificate - Because of HIPPA (federal medical privacy laws) medical information has been removed from the generic bith certificate and is kept on a separate record. Unfortunately, most Vital Statistics offices fail to inform citizens and young parents that there is a medical portion to the birth record. To obtain it a parent or individual has to know that it has to be requested specifically as it can only be released to lawful guardians/parents or the individual whose birthrecord it belongs to.
Information, such as method of eye prophylaxis used is recorded, blood type, height & weight at birth, iron content at birth (anemia), the blood test for genetic marker results, and so forth.
5) Avoiding ear infections in infants and their causes is a must topic as young parents need to avoid the over use of antibiotics and tubes and other expensive procedures that ear infections lead to $$$$ for the medical profession and less $$$$ in parents pockets and higher medical premiums for everyone.

As if the View wasn't bad enough. I do NOT want advice from any more fat, stuck on themselves, loud-mouthed women, ESPECIALLY telling me how to raise my child. This is going to be a BORING trainwreck.

Then don't watch it if you think it's going to affect you so much. Get a clue.

This show is inevitably going to be coined a "The View" knockoff, no matter how hard they try to claim it isn't. To be honest, it's a brilliant move by CBS. There's more drama with 6 women screaming at each other on TV than there is in any scripted soap opera. And that's saying a lot.
