"American Idol's" Ryan Seacrest will host an online edition called "Social Suite" for viewers using social media like Facebook and Twitter.

Back in January, King and CNN hosted a similar  telethon which raised $5 million for relief efforts in Haiti.

Thanks Larry & Co. In a world of half measures it's nice that at least the Stars shine (incl. Kevin Costner a renaissance man of great foresight). From the half measures Dept.> I have to tell you, I have a lot of grievances with some of the ocean 'advocates' like Pew Ocean & Lenfest Ocean because they like the publicity but when the chips were down they were hardly seen even though - as we speak - they are spending countless millions spearheading an uninspired & unpopular effort to destroy The Historic Barnes in Merion, PA, the place that Henri Matisse called "the sanest place to view art in America." I guess the Pew Trust family & Gerry Lenfest know more about artistic vision than Matisse. The Pew Barnes Move is a crime against artistic vision & America's cultural integrity. On Father's Day, I thought it was important to remember The Father of Modern Art Appreciation in America, Dr. Albert Barnes. Save Our Artistic Heritage! The Barnes belongs in Merion. Hi,
My name is Dave Connell, I'm an employee with The Nature Conservancy. I just wanted to say that we are excited to be able to take part in this event and give everyone a quick update on why we think it's important to take on this effort beyond the funding BP must provide to account for the full cost and extent of damages associated with the effects of the spill.

Coming on top of decades of degradation in the Gulf, merely cleaning up the effects of the spill will not be enough to save the Gulf?s ecosystems and all the benefits they provide for the people of the Gulf and the nation.

We need to do more than clean up. We need to restore health and resilience to the Gulf and for a goal that ambitious, we need strong commitments and the will and support of people and communities. The Conservancy has been working in the Gulf for decades. We have the science, the commitment, the partnerships and the will to lead a robust, long-term effort to protect and restore Gulf coastal ecosystems, across 5 states from Texas to Florida.

You can read more about our ongoing work in the Gulf here:

and fund out how you can help in the gulf here:

Thanks to everyone for your support and be sure to tune in on Monday. It should be a wonderful event!

8 pm to 10 pm?

That's no telethon, that is an infomercial.

C'mon CNN, surely you can do better than that.
