Gary Coleman on Life Support; Wife Shannon Price Says He Suffered Brain Hemorrhage

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Former child star Gary Coleman is currently on life support and unconscious after suffering an intracranial hemorrhage at his home in Utah.

Coleman suffered the hemorrhage Wednesday evening in his Santaquin home, 55 miles south of Salt Lake City. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment, and was later transferred to the intensive care unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

His manager, John Alcantar said Coleman was "conscious and lucid" Thursday morning, but by mid-afternoon he later slipped into a coma as his condition worsened.

"At this critical moment, we can only ask for your thoughts and prayers for Gary to make a speedy and fully recovery," Alcantar added.

The 42-year-old actor has had a history of health issues. Earlier this year, Coleman was admitted to the hospital after suffering a seizure while on "The Insider" set. He also has been battling kidney disease since childhood.

Coleman is best known for his TV role as Arnold Jackson in the American sitcom, "Diff'rent Strokes."

I know how it feels to lose a close loved one, it isn't easy. I will remember Gary most for his stance he had against his parents that ripped him off of millions of dollars. I think this was his biggest reason why he never recovered from that. his health issues have always plagued him, I am not sure what it was called, but it had something to do with the reason why he never got much bigger. I refuse to remember him as a child actor, because he was more than that.; Reply to this comment

My prayers go out to the family of Gary Coleman...I have always liked him. As a child actor and as a man. Of course he put a lot of his troubles upon himself, but I take into consideration that he was never looked at as a man, only as the news people put it (child actor)....; Reply to this comment
