Dove World Outreach Center: Where Does the Money Go?

Terry Jones, the controversial pastor behind the recent call to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11, runs a church that spends most of its money on administrative expenses and operates a furniture business out his church in Gainesville, FL.

According to the 2006 tax return---the most recent tax return available on Guidestar.org---filed by Jones' church, the Dove World Outreach Center, "program services" accounted for 30.5 percent of the church's expenses, while "Administrative costs" accounted for 69.5 percent.

Jones and his wife, Sylvia, sell used furniture through their ebay.com store "TS and Company", the profits of which they say support the church's food pantry "Lisa Jones House." In 2009, Jones told the Gaineville Sun, "At least part of those proceeds are funneled back into the church," but declined to say what percentage of profits go back into the church and how much the company makes.

Terry Jones, The Man Behind "Burn A Quran Day"

TS and Company is not Jones' only online business---he also sells the book he authored, "Islam is of the Devil", as well as mugs, tee shirts and hats on another website he operates---Islamisofthedevil.com.

And an online real estate listing may indicate Jones is looking for other ways to drum up some cash. According to the listing on real estate website AllisonAbles.com, the Dove World Church is for sale for 2.9 million.  The listing says the property has been "reduced $1.1 million for a quick sale".

Other sources of revenue include the church's school, DWOC Academy for Apostolic Church Building, which charges students $500 a semester to train people to" become strong and stable to build apostolic churches that can overcome the challenges of our time." The website says registration for 2010 is closed, but in 2009 a church spokeswoman told the Gainesville Sun  there were 6 members enrolled in the academy.

Though the church once enjoyed tax-exempt status, it lost part of that status this spring, according to the Alachua County Property Appraiser's office. A representative from the appraiser's office visited Dove World Outreach Center March 25th, and determined the church must pay taxes on the 1,700 square feet of its property that is being used for the Jones' for-profit business. The church will pay $3,200 in property taxes this year.

Dove World is running TSC Moving company and shipping furniture sold on ebay-- they no longer have their own listings but ship for Metro Retro in Houston and Pasadena TX. I do not know if the Texas people are aware of who they are using or if they are also church supporters.

If the Muslims and the Koran can be held accountable for crimes against humanity then so too shall all religious fanatics, including Christians and the Bible.
Should not Israel be held accountable for its crimes, recorded in the book of Zionist lies, If anybody should be punished it should be the Jews for crimes against humanity, then fanatical Christians!
BURN THE BIBLE DAY!
Better yet BURN THE FANATICS DAY!!!

I quite agree with you. My family were in WW11 and as Americans were not for the bombings of innocent people in Japan. As for this "Pastor"? Jones in Florida I copy from a friends remark. "
"Pastor Jones is to me a bigot. He is not following Christ's teachings. He is a media opportunist. Hypothetically, there are laws that say that even despite "confidentiality" laws one can turn in someone who is planning to "murder" someone therefore why is this Pastor not being arrested for "hate" crime and "starting a riot"? If he wants to burn the Quaran in private within his church walls without telling the whole world about it that would be his "religious freedom" but since he has gone public it is therefore a "public" "hate" crime and inciting to riot. Arrest him.. I am a Christian and he does not follow my Jesus Christ.

Jazaakillah Khairanengyb26. Majority of the US citizens know this. Only a few devilish thinkers like Jone are different. Americans are good people. But the Jones type needs some psychic attention.

This Pastor does not even know how to spell Quoran. [Koran]. You have already lost 30% of your congragation out of 50 people, do the math, you are very wrong. To learn of the Quoran, you defenately will not entirely learn by watching you tube. At least your heart was in the right place and you took the time to at least glimpse at a religion that is very dicipline and respectful and has many similar areas as that of our Bible. Koodos for trying! Think of our American troops and those that travel abroad as well, your actions will affect the mindset of many including Americans. Grow Up.

I am a First Century Christian living in the mid-west, while I don?t agree with burning the Qur'an I also don?t agree with the spin that the press and our government is putting on this. When you shut down their website and the bank which holds $140,000 mortgage loan on the church demanded immediate repayment of the balance as well as Jones having his property insurance canceled What is this? What happened to freedom of speech What would so called Christians do if the 10 commandments were burned Ill tell you what they would do they would also protest that. Well Moses did just that when he saw that his people had lost patient in their God and decided to worship a false God.

Exodus 32:1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 2And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 5And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. 6And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. 7And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: 8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 9And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. 11And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. 15And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. 17And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. 18And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. 19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

If Moses could destroy the 10 commandments and the calf of false worship who are we to judge this man? It is not our place to do so.
Don?t look at the Bible or the Qur'an as a sacred document for it is the word read into the hearts of man and reveled to us by the Holy Spirit that is the true word of God and not the words on paper. God can teach man His truths without the written word. If that were not so then he would not be God would He?

by the way ...all this stuff that u've said was written in Qua-ran !! and the Koran is the words of god itself and wasn't written by any man like the many gospels that u have ... speaks about all the prophets and rewarded the virgin Mary with a verse about her pregnancy in Jesus Christ (which we muslims respect a lot bec he is god's messenger) and me as a muslim we would never ever burn a holy book whether it's christian or Jewish bec it's against our religion.

This idiot Terry Jones is going to end up like Salman Rushdie.

They will put a huge bounty on his head and he and his family will have to go into seclusion in a secret hideaway and stay there for years to escape being killed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully they get the right Terry Jones and not the Monty Python alumni

First, I am an American and a person of Christian faith. The pastor should take any early world history lesson at any of the local colleges or Universities in his area. The people who commited acts of violence in the US were terrorists who were attached to an extremist group that did not follow the Quran or Koran,as it was worded. The pastor is also an extremist who does not follow the bible. If you know burning copies of the Quran would hurt others why do it. Pastor you are like a wild teenager who cares for none but his or her self. Grow up.
