GOP Rep.: Cheney probably will go to hell for Iraq war

Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., the congressman who went from coining the term "freedom fries" to becoming an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, said that there's probably a spot in hell for former Vice President Dick Cheney because of his responsibility for the conflict.

"Congress will not hold anyone to blame," Jones said Saturday at an event hosted by the libertarian group Young Americans for Liberty. "Lyndon Johnson's probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney."

Jones voted for the Iraq war and even pushed for the U.S. House cafeteria to serve "freedom fries" rather than french fries to protest France's opposition to war. At Saturday's event, however, Jones -- whose district is home to the Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune and other military bases -- said he voted for the war because he "was more concerned about getting reelected, and I regret that, and I will to the day I die."

Jones also criticized President Obama for bypassing Congress in his decision to intervene in Libya and kill Muammar Qaddafi, calling it "a breach of the Constitution."

"Mr. Obama didn't even come to Congress -- Mr. Bush, I'll at least give him that," he said.

I personally don't believe in hell and think that only the people who truly believe in hell actually have a chance of going to hell. Think about it a bit.

With that being said, one's belief or lack of belief is no excuse to be a sorry human. We all make mistakes but we all have the ability to learn from our mistakesand to try our best each and every day. Falling short is not the problem, not trying is.

Obama did not need permission or crap from the Right Wing Republicans to kill off Osamma Ben Ladin. The head of the US Military does what he has to do to avenge the death and prevent further death of American Civilians. Ole Abe Lincoln proved this. :et this be a warning to those who would work to destroy the United States of America, be they foreign or domestic.

Yeah, but the invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with the deaths of Americans and everything to do with a perceived acquisition of a valuable crude oil producing area. It just did not work out that way for the prime movers.

BARRYTHELIAR

Who is Saddam barack hussein? If you can't tell me who Saddam barack hussein is then I can't in good faith continue to read your post. For as far as I am concerned is you can't get the first part right in your post then the rest of your comment is garbage.

I know who Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti was and what he did not have in his country in 2003.

Glad that he mentioned Johnson. The Gulf of Tomkin incident never occurred. At least, Johnson, regreted his actions.

Cheney and Bush were both smash mouth in your face types.
To them, it was more important to be RIGHT and to push their own agendas, than to work for any betterment of the country.

Hard to imagine, since few of the previous ones managed to overshadow their Boss (The Office was vilified from its inception, and later declared "not worth a bucket of warm spit" by John Nance Gardner). The largely unpopular Spiro Agnew (Milk Fund corruption, resigned) might be a distant second. Several former VPs who became President by death directly or indirectly might also make the list: John Tyler ("His Accidency" who only took Office because Wm. Henry Harrison was longwinded), Andrew Johnson (caught up in Reconstruction fight after Lincoln's assasination, first President to be impeached) and Richard Nixon (RFK's assasination left Democratic party without a strong candidate, Watergate, only President to resign).
