Mitt Romney to address CPAC next month

After remaining almost completely out of the public eye since losing the 2012 election to President Obama, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is stepping back into the spotlight with a speech next month to conservative activists.

Romney will address attendees of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference when they meet in Washington March 14-16.

"This is an opportunity for him to express his appreciation to supporters and friends," a senior Romney aide told CBS News.

Since the campaign, the former Massachusetts governor has spent much of his time at his La Jolla, Calif., home. He's been photographed pumping his own gas, shopping at Costco, and visiting Disneyland with his grandchildren. But he has held no public events. The speech at CPAC may mark the end of his quiet period. According to reports, he told supporters at a Washington gathering last month that "I'm not going away" and that he would be willing to help Republican candidates in the 2014 and 2016 elections.

Romney is no stranger to the CPAC conference. In 2008, he used his address to announce he was dropping out of the Republican presidential primary. In 2012, he told an audience skeptical of his Republican bona fides that he was "severely conservative."

The news of Romney's CPAC speech was first reported by National Review.

Hmmm. Why is he speaking to a "Conservative" PAC.

He is more liberal than Obama.

So I guess all that talk of the repiglicans becoming more mainstream is a lot of hooey.
The repiglicans would rather surround themselves with extremists and baggers like Santorum and runt Paul who would turn this nation into a free for all or a muslim like theocracy.
Good luck winning any future elections. White geriatric racists better hope that young white racists multiply rapidly

If you only get one thing out of this, let it be the following: The pendulum swings back and forth in America and always has. Someday you will be on the other side. I hope you have the humility to accept it, for you do not have it now.

because the right wing is blowing their own veins open over Obama's re-election. They can't accept a majority vote when runs against them

Steve, you are correct. In 2000, Carl Rove was crowing about a 'permanent Republican majority'. In 2008, the Dems crowed about a 'permanent Democrat majority'.

Last time I looked, Dems had the Pres and Senate; Repubs the House of Reps.

I'm sure the Romans thought they had a lock on everything, too. So much for permanent anything.

Sad, Romney isn't in, at least we wouldn't be heading for another recession. Last quarters GDP growth was zero, but Libs probably don't know that two quarters in a row of zero GDP growth equals a recession.

You do know that the cuts called for in Ryan's budget - which Romney said he supported - have been shown to mean serious cuts to government jobs and social programs at the expense of driving up military spending. And that the result if this would mean... yes, another recession.

Your great leaders didn't have a magic cure for you.
