NRA falls silent after Conn. school carnage

WASHINGTON The National Rifle Association, the nation's largest gun-rights group, has gone eerily silent after the deadly shooting of 26 people, including 20 children, at a Connecticut elementary school.

Its Facebook page has disappeared. It has not sent a message on Twitter since the extent of the carnage became clear. And no leaders of the 4.3 million-member organization appeared on the talk shows this past Sunday, two days after the shooting.

During past crises, the politically powerful group has defended gun owners' constitutional right to bear arms, which is popular among millions of Americans.

But with 20 of the victims ages 6 or 7, it may be tougher to advocate for gun owners' rights.

One Republican strategist says the NRA's approach is probably wise, given the emotions involved.

It seems like it is getting worse. More guns, more deaths and carnage. Guess the NRA will get its way and everyone will need their assault rifles to go shopping. People will need bullet resistant cars to drive to work and bullet resistant buses to pick up the kids for school. Gangs with death wishes attacking schools systematically. Principals spending their time watching security cameras for the next attack. Yes NRA, you'll probably get what you want; more and more guns. I hope the Republicans in U.S. GOVT sends the FEDS to investigate those Death Threat Statements. The people making the statements for Death Threats against the NRA are obvious Mentally Ill Criminal Liberals. The Democrat Govt might have some left over guns from F&F Project for these Criminal Liberals. After all the Same GOVT Sponsored and GAVE guns to criminals along the border States with Mexico.

Just look at what the U.S. Govt did during the so-called Fast and Furious Campaign of Our U.S. Govt Arming CRIMINALS Along the Mexican - USA border. Automatic weapons are FAR from banned. All you need is enough cash (supply is limited to weapons made before 1986, so they are scarce) and to pay your $200 tax the BTAFE (for a NFA stamp). ANYONE legally allowed to own a firearm can buy a fully automatic rifle legally.

I totally blame the killer..in fact if we had taken the time and money to adequately protect our schools, he could have been shot before he even made it to the door of the school.We pour billions into third world countries when that money could be used to provide hi tech security for every school as well as trained security officers properly armed to eliminate any perpetrator before they reach the premises...However it doesn't absolve the society we live in....You want to stop the violence, the culture of violence must end...
