Gen. David Petraeus will testify before a House Committee on the Libya embassy attack Friday morning, despite the ongoing FBI investigation into an extramarital affair that led to his resignation as director of the CIA.
The hearing to be held by the House Intelligence Committee is closed to the public and the media. Petraeus is expected to answer questions about the CIA's knowledge and handling of the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that left U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead. Two of those Americans were with the CIA.
Obama: "I'll address the families on Benghazi"
It was unclear at first whether or not Petraeus would testify at all on Capitol Hill at all, after he abruptly resigned from the agency amid news of his affair with biographer Broadwell. On Wednesday, before the House Intelligence Committee's announcement, the Senate Intelligence Committee said the retired General would testify to their committee at a separate hearing, though it's still unclear when he'll speak to the Senate panel.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calf., chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday that Petraeus was "willing and interested" to talk to the committee, CBS News reported earlier Wednesday.
"It's just on Benghazi. Our hearings are on Benghazi and the intelligence that preceded Benghazi and the intelligence that determined security," she told reporters.
Meanwhile, the House Intelligence Committee will hear from him at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, an hour that is extremely uncommon for a congressional meeting.
Congressional investigators get access to telegrams, intelligence reports, and classified emails as they interview top security and Pentagon officials. Sources tell CBS News' Margaret Brennan that intelligence officials will show footage from an unmanned surveillance drone that was overhead during the assault.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which has oversight of the State Department, has already been briefed about the attack by Under Secretary Patrick Kennedy and Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Eric Boswell.

According to the official CIA time line report: 1. There were 5 men that left the annex and accompanied Tyrone Woods on the rescue mission. Who and where are they and their testimony? 2. There were people rescued from the consulate. Who and where are they and their testimony? 3. There were people at the annex that dispatched those on the rescue mission. Who and where are they and their testimony? 4. There were 5 men dispatched to the annex arriving there about an hour after the start of the attack. Who and where are they and their testimony as well as those that dispatched them?
These people could tell us what actually happened. Who said what to whom. What requests for help were sent and denied by whom.
WHY ARE ALL THESE ON SITE WITNESSES BEING SHUT UP? IF THIS IS NOT A COVER UP WHAT IS IT?

In other words, all heterosexual males have already committed adultery in their hearts...but thanks be to God, Christ Jesus died on the cross for our sins of adultery.
For example, I saw someone say that the Lybian president called Obama to warn him that there was going to be an attack. Where did you hear that? I'm guessing you heard it from someone else on the internet, or Rush/Hannity/someother rightwing blowhard. Here is what i found, which i think you've twisted to satisfy your own wishes, from the Theindependent.uk:
"A senior official of the biggest militia in Benghazi, the February 17th Brigade, told CNN that he had warned US diplomats of a rapidly deteriorating security situation in Benghazi three days before the attack."
A senior official in the Benghazi militia is a far cry from the Lybian president.
US diplomat is not the same as president Obama
deteriorating security is not the same as pre intelligence on a imminent terror attack.
What i suspect really happened with Benghazi was that with all the unrest in muslim countries over the youtube video the president wanted to make sure they investigated what happened before they said for sure that it was attack. I think the mistake they made was suggesting it was a result of a protest gone out of control. They should have just said they were investigating the situation.
But regardless, an attack is an attack, and 4 people died. I don't understand why people are making such a big deal about whether the administration called it a terrorist attack or not.
It is not illegal to have extramarital relationships. It would be wrong if either of the two in the affair was the superior/boss of the other. That was not the circumstance here.
There is no reason to doubt the truthfulness of General Petraeus. He did not attempt to cover this up, and it's not out of the ordinary to keep personal correspondence secret.
It will be grace that brings General Petraeus to the fore again.
