Obama fires up Wisconsin rally, says he's purveyor of "real change"

In the final stretch before Election Day, an energized President Obama urged Wisconsin supporters to vote during a fiery Milwaukee stump speech, casting himself as a crusader for the people against the powerful and brushing off Mitt Romney's attempt to don the mantle of change with a simple refrain: "We know what change is," and Romney's policies are "not change."

Mr. Obama, who told attendees, "You know I'm working hard because my voice is getting a little raspy," began with a paean to the bipartisan show of unity in superstorm Sandy's aftermath, underscoring his message that "we're all in this together."

The government's response to the disaster, Mr. Obama said, featured "leaders of different political parties working together," proving that "no matter how tough times may get, we always bounce back because we're all in this together. We rise and fall as one nation and one people."

Mr. Obama sought to link himself to the economic prosperity of former President Bill Clinton's tenure while portraying Romney as the second coming of President George W. Bush. Comparing Mr. Clinton's boffo job creation record with Mr. Bush's comparatively rocky economic record, Mr. Obama explained pithily, "We know our ideas work, and we know their ideas don't work."

After the crowd booed at a mention of Romney, Mr. Obama repeated a familiar line, telling supporters, "Don't boo; vote." He did not repeat an earlier remark that "voting is the best revenge," a comment that sparked criticism from Romney and his team.

The president stressed a few of his first term's more bipartisan accomplishments, commending Republicans for supporting an extension of middle class tax cuts and a repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell."

But Mr. Obama drew a firm line on cooperation, saying that as long as he remains president, he will not support policies that he said would allow insurance companies to discriminate against individuals with pre-existing conditions or turn Medicare into a voucher system to pay for another tax cut for wealthy individuals.

"That's not bipartisanship. That's not change. That's surrender," said the president.

He closed his stump performance with a return to his people-versus-the-powerful message, explaining, "The folks at the very top in this country, they don't need a champion in Washington...The people who need a champion are the Americans whose letters I read late at night.

Polls currently show the president with a slim but persistent lead in the Badger State.

Of course we know that romney just wants to foist on America MORE OF THE SAME failed GOP policies of the bushies -- both economic and foreign policy -- with "trickle-down economic insanity" on steroids and PNAC NEOCON WARS with an ever-larger military-industrial complex bloated spending!

President Obama's favorite line is "WE still have a long way to go..." Who are these WE people anyway? Let's examine our alternatives: OK, what is Obama's plan for the next four years? All we get from the Obama administration are attacks on the Republicans and their plan, where is team Obama's plan for the way FORWARD. I've heard it's based on reducing the payroll tax for another year and borrow more money to invest in infrastructure along with more borrowed Federal money to put state teachers and police back on the public payrolls. Is that the Democratic plan, more of the same? Obama's current plan has already increased the national debt by over 5 Trillion; Food Stamp participation went from 32 to 46 Million; gas prices have doubled and unemployment is up to 7.9%. Sounds like it's going to be more of the same... So how's that "Hope and Change" thing working for you!
Obama has extended the Bush Tax Cuts for two years NOW, as the Bush tax cuts were for 10 years only. Stop calling them the Bush tax cuts, they are the Obama tax cuts now and he wants to extend more than half of them again, but only for the middle class! Stop looking at the past and try focusing on today and then change government policies NOW... Your kid's future is at stake, no more temporary tax cuts!!! Look to Europe for a perfect example of what a government should NOT do...

Just think what this country would be like if 9/11 happened when Obama was president or Clinton they would've turned their backs. Bush took care of US from attack. It would've been better if 9/11 didn't happen but it did and Clinton cut defense spending is second term......

This election is about whether we will continue the wars and depression of Bush Cheney and all the wealth of America going to the Top 1% Romney) or if we will have good American jobs, public education and peace and prosperity for all Americans (Obama).
