Bruce Springsteen and former President Bill Clinton will hit the trail together in Ohio next week, marking the latest in the Obama campaign's efforts to shore up a lead in what has become possibly the most critical battleground state in the 2012 election.

The two will appear together in a free, public event in Parma, Ohio, on October 18 where, according to the campaign, "President Clinton will deliver remarks and lay out a clear picture of the economic choice the middle class faces in this election."

He will also appear at an event in Ames, Iowa on October 18, according to the Obama campaign.

"Iowans understand hard work, fairness and integrity, the same values that Bruce Springsteen, the President and Vice President stand for," said Jim Messina, Obama for America campaign manager. "Springsteen's appearances will be valuable in energizing supporters and getting out the vote effort in these important swing states."

Springsteen isn't the only celebrity stepping up for the president in the face of what appears to be a post-debate surge by Mitt Romney: The campaign is also out with a new ad starring actor Morgan Freeman highlighting the president's commitment to the middle class.

"Every president inherits challenges," says Freeman, who narrates the ad in his famous baritone. "Few have faced so many. Four years later, our enemies have been brought to justice. Our heroes are coming home. Assembly lines are humming again."

As still images of the president, soldiers, firefighters cheering at the news of Osama bin Laden's death, and cars flash across the scene, Morgan continues: "There are still challenges to meet, children to educate, a middle-class to rebuild. But the last thing we should do is turn back now."

On the Rasmussen poll being conservative - it isn't about the conservative slant that appeals to me, it is the accuracy. Rasmussen has the highest ranking for accuracy since they have done election polling in 2000. They aren't doing me or anyone else good if they report Romney up by 20 points and he isn't. A lot of the polls have Democrats sampled by +9, +8, etc. even though (I believe) registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats on the national scale. You can bet that Obama and Romney didn't have their own internal polling they would rely on Rasmussen.

Second, I don't know a single person who voted Republican last time that is voting Obama this time, but I know several people who voted Obama last time that are switching.

Finally check out the University of Colorado political science professors who say Obama is toast based on economic data from all 50 states. I would not call CU a conservative institution, and they have correctly picked every election since 1980 using their model.

I am a conservative and I hated Bush/Cheney, reason being for all his labels he was a huge spender and a weak punk and had a filthy background - and I held my nose when I voted for McCain last election. For the first time snce Reagan the Repubs have a candidate that has some moral values and integrety, and having Springsteen pitch for him won't be enough.

GOP-R--Con-Men says:
Dear Fellow Americans,

It is much easier to destroy something than to repair/restore it.

Republicans along with Bush/Cheney destroyed the country and looted our treasury. They block legislation to make corporations, big oil, big pharma and the super rich pay their fair share to restore revenue. They want you to replace President Obama with Romney as they continue fight and block anything to help struggling Americans and revive the economy.

Republican behavior is nothing short of treasonous including their bogus voter I.D. laws designed to strip voters including longtime voters of their right to vote by making it unreasonably difficult to obtain the added paperwork new I.D. laws require to vote. That alone is reason enough not to vote for the republican party which has thrown our constitution in the trash. In fact republicans have more allegiance to the GOP and Grover Norquist than our constitution.

Springsteen is a Hypocrite, claims he wants to pay more taxes but files for resident part time tax deductions on his properties in New Jersey.
--------

Where did Springsteen mention THAT one? I didn't see it in the article... do you have a link?

I take every deduction I am legally allowed, and that includes 1031 Exchanges, which frankly shouldn't be legal. However, I'm fine with removing ALL tax credits for both corporations and people.

I don't see why Springsteen would be much different from that. Aren't you FOR removing entitlements? Well, tax credits count. I have to subsidize education for other peoples' kids, I have to subsidize churches, etc.

You lost any credibility you might have had when you used the term "REPUBLI-"CONs".

--------------

He's not looking to be credible. Obviously, he's simply preaching to the choir, and isn't capable of making points which those he opposes might want to read.

What I find funny is that he mentions "Shallow Repubs"... What about the Repubs who aren't shallow? He didn't think that one through very well...

It was heard that "keep the white house white" sentiments expressed in '08 and for those same people to equate those who "suck on the teat of big government" (plainly for no reason) with blacks. Using this easy button will only prevent people from thinking so many important issues of society and economy really needed.
Romney commits political suicide because that he cannot afford any solutions to moderate his intentions for fear of losing that combination of racist voters and religious doctrinal voters. No wonder today's GOP is much like the NAZI party before World War II.

Energy in the US is an industry. Industry is business. It's big business. Governor Romney has a proven track record of fiscal responsibility and success in big business. President Obama has a track record of loose business policies and fiscal irresponsibility, especially when it comes to energy. He favors his contributors in the green energy sector to the tune of 90 billion dollars to failed companies like Solyndra. Over 100 investigations are still pending against Obama's loose policies and practices in the Inspector General's office. I used to be a Democratic Senatorial District Delegate and this trickle up poverty isn't what I signed on for, either. Obama is no Clinton. What Bill Clinton had Barack Obama couldn't even borrow to get. Clinton had true bi-partisanship. We don't need another 4 years of this. We don't need a do-over president; we need a do-er. Obama couldn't make a profit in a lemonade stand. I want a real businessman to turn our suffering economy into a surplus economy. I want someone who has proven success, and can demonstrate it in his own life. I want the same opportunities for my kids that my folks had for me, I want my kid to be able to find work when he graduates in four years. That's not going to happen under Obama. Just look at his record. Are college graduates able to find work? No. Obama's gotta go.
Elect Mitt Romney!
