Biden: I have different values than Romney, Ryan

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Vice President Joe Biden on Friday maintained the same fiery, bold tone that characterized his debate performance against Paul Ryan, telling an appreciative crowd in Ryan's home state that the event proved he and the GOP congressman have different sets of values.

"Anyone who watched that debate, I don't think there's any doubt that - Congressman Ryan and I and Governor Romney and the president - we have a fundamentally different vision for America," Biden said. "And quite frankly, a fundamentally different value set."

The vice president spoke to more than 2,000 students and supporters at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse about many of the issues covered in Thursday's debate. The campaign said an overflow crowd of more than 400 people listened to his speech.

Among other things, Biden said Ryan made clear that he and GOP nominee Mitt Romney are "prepared to impose their private views on everyone else" when it comes to abortion.

"It was made clear last night that they don't believe in protecting a woman's access to health care," Biden said. "It was made very clear that they do not believe a woman has a right to control her own body that's between she and her doctor. And now they say they're willing to make an exception in the case of rape and incest. Ladies and gentlemen, Congressman Ryan was a leader in the House and even blocked those exceptions."

Ryan, as a House member, has opposed exceptions for rape and incest. But after being named Romney's running mate, he said he's comfortable with Romney's differing view on abortion rights, telling a Virginia TV station: "Let's remember, I'm joining the Romney-Ryan ticket and the president makes policy."

The Romney campaign sent out a response soon after Biden's speech saying the vice president made dishonest attacks and distortions "to distract from his failed record."

"Just like during last night's debate, Vice President Biden was unable to describe any vision for the future and used dishonest attacks and distortions to distract from his failed record," Romney spokesman Ryan Williams said in an emailed response. "Over the last four years, the middle class has been 'buried' under crushing unemployment, falling incomes, and rising costs caused by the Obama-Biden Administration's abysmal policies."

One subject notably absent from Biden's speech in La Crosse was Libya. Romney on Friday accused Biden of "doubling down on denial" in the debate and directly contradicting the testimony of State Department officials regarding last month's terrorist attack in Libya. The Republican's remarks led the White House and Democrats to say that the vice president was speaking directly for himself and the president when he asserted, "We weren't told they wanted more security" at the U.S. embassy in Benghazi.

The trip to Wisconsin was Biden's third this year. Polls show President Obama with a narrow lead in the state.

GOP-R--Con-Men says:
Dear Fellow Americans,

It is much easier to destroy something than to repair/restore it.

Republicans along with Bush/Cheney destroyed the country and looted our treasury. They block legislation to make corporations, big oil, big pharma and the super rich pay their fair share to restore revenue. They want you to replace President Obama with Romney as they continue fight and block anything to help struggling Americans and revive the economy.

Republican behavior is nothing short of treasonous including their bogus voter I.D. laws designed to strip voters including longtime voters of their right to vote by making it unreasonably difficult to obtain the added paperwork new I.D. laws require to vote. That alone is reason enough not to vote for the republican party which has thrown our constitution in the trash. In fact republicans have more allegiance to the GOP and Grover Norquist than our constitution. They must not be rewarded for using their public office to destroy our great nation, American way of life and the social safety net.

Biden you were so rude and arrogant. You must go. So on 11 6 12, we will vote Obama out. And on 11 7 12, we will be free from you and Obama. The United States is in the toilet thanks you Obama. Unemployment will be higher if Obama is reelected. CEOs have said they will not hire more people due to the new health care law.

So here I go
1 this is not a discussion about abortion or the {God Given Right To Kill A Child }
it is not it a supreme court given right . you cant do it after the child is born, you can and will be charged with 2 murders if you kill a female that is pregnant at any stage of pregnancy and murder is murder. and it is a disgrace to all females, me alike to believe any other way.
I am just sickened daily to hear how important for ladies {if you can call them that } to be worried in this day and age more worried that they can kill their unborn child then being more worried about what our economy has become.
2 This is not a small debt we are in over our heads literally.
this is such a problem dems and reps need to be together more then ever.
we have lost rights left and right our current President have signed bill after bill to take these rights. He has done it with and without congress help.and the cost of these bills alone are costly to our country. our dollar is worth less today then when he went in to office and dropping daily after our dollar drops we have nothing. we are nobody.
To even bring up to 2 men sitting around a table abortion is ridiculous. men dont have a clue how to handle our bodies.I was raised Dem but will not vote Dem this year I like being free which we are losing this right more and more under this president.
3 who really cares how much and who gets these men money? if this is really that important to the people on here you are all not thinking properly. With children at home and children grown I am afraid for their future. Both dems and reps lie get use to it. this last debate showed me something about our vice president that I did not want to see ,,, he reminded me of my abusive ex husband, smirking , laughing, undermining , interrupting, just that I am better than you attitude turned me away. I look at most of the news that is out there some is far left and some far right take it in feel it out and decide for your self
I have never posted any thing in these chat things this is my first post. I have looked at lots though and am just tired of all the bitterness . wake up America we are in for hard times if the White House keeps spending and spending what they do with their personal money shouldn't be our business anyway

WhatWouldJesusDo says:
Vice-President Biden should have said that "the right to control a woman's own body is between her, her doctor, and GOD, not the government! Put differently, if God gave women "free will" to choose for themselves what serves best their consciences and their private bodies, who are WE to remove from them their "free will" choices?

We EXALT ourselves when we say that OUR views of abortion should trump the free will God granted women to control what happens to their own bodies! Is Uncle Sam to legislate that people all across America will NOT smoke because smoking is just killing oneself slowly, which is against the commandment Thou Shall Not Murder?

Is Uncle Sam to criminalize overeating because it causes diabetes and heart disease, which are yet other ways to kill oneself....but much slower than an abortion?

What about drinking to excess? Is Uncle Sam to criminalize any version of drinking alcohol because it, too, is a form of self-injury (to the brain) or very slow "self murder" through alcoholism (not to forget auto accidents, which is murder of others)?

Clearly, Uncle Sam does not "exalt himself" when it comes to the slow causes of death amongst us. Uncle Sam appears to respect God's gift of free will to all of us...but only in certain matters.

Jesus said: "Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted!" Luke 14:11.

Let us humble ourselves and allow women to exercise their god-given right to free will! Let us humble ourselves by not forcing ourselves on women by restricting how they manage their own bodies!

As a Christian, I am very much against abortion, but it is NOT up to me to exalt myself and my religious views over others, particularly when their BODIES are involved! God gave THEM their bodies, not me! God gave THEM free will; who am I to take away what God has given THEM!!!!!

Nicely put. Just as Joe said in the debate, he has the view of the Catholic church, but doesn't consider it his place to tell anyone else what to believe regarding abortion

iam4honesty replies: I'll bet you voted for McCain/Palin.

Yes. Your point? Do you really want to have a debate on the relative merits of Palin versus this clown? Or Obama versus McCain? If I had the time, that would be fun....and I would start with what these guys have done during their term, and the overall state of this country. We simply cannot afford 4 more years of this insanity.

Not only is Joe Buffoon Biden NOT Presidential or Vice Presidential material, he is not even worthy to serve in ANY public office!

Based on Mental Midget Biden's display of
1. arrogance
2. disrespect
and his
3. publicly-viewed giggling session,

this voter can no longer remain neutral or 'undecided.'

Also, this is not the first time that Biden's "hebephrenic proclivity" has manifested itself.

Excellent! More over the top hate fueled nonsense! The very thing we need to help sway the few Independent votes sick of hate mongering, to vote for Obama! Thanks for the hard work! Ingenious tactic, the Dems are using now! Make the Independents think Republicans are uneducated morons incapable of original thought.
