Obama pokes fun at his debate performance

LOS ANGELES President Barack Obama has a new critic of his debate performance — himself.

Speaking at a celebrity-led fundraiser at the Nokia Theatre, Mr. Obama came on stage after performances by such singers as Katy Perry, Jon Bon Jovi and Stevie Wonder and remarks by actor George Clooney.

He marveled at how they are able to perform flawlessly night after night and then said, "I can't always say the same."

It was a shot at his listless debate showing against Republican Mitt Romney on Wednesday. Supporters in the crowd laughed at the line.

Mr. Obama was raising millions of dollars over two days of campaigning in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He was capping his night at a ritzy 150-guest dinner costing $25,000 person.

I'm glad Obama thinks he's funny, because most of the people I know think he's just sad; having to resort to poking fun at himself to diffuse the criticism of his totally ineffectual attempts at being President.!!!

But Obama's less than great debate performance was not his fault. Al Gore (The Great) has explained that Obama did not have proper time to adjust to the higher elevation in Denver. It is understandable he was not at his brilliant norm.

Obama will have to learn to cope with Mr. Romney's staccato delivered lies, and shapeshifting, if he wants to win the next debates. Instead of being the erudite law professor, he must be a direct prosecuting attorney to once and for all show up the rascal. What happened last week, was not Romney winning, so much as people perceiving a detached, and possibly burned out leader. Mr. President, if you want the people to stand with you, you will have to stand up to the "Characterless-Man", and once again prove yourself convincingly. That's why the process for you is called a "reelection".

The flawless Hollywood crowd(showmen and glorified carnival barkers)may have thought The Presidents performance was funny but I don't see the humor in President Obama looking like an idiot in front of sixty million people for an hour and a half.

Except he didn't look like an idiot. Most folks agree that Obama actually won on substance, even if Romney was stronger overall. Since substance should be the thing that matters most, Obama didn't hurt himself as much as the pundits perceived.

Is that the new excuse - Obama was on Thorazine? Could be, that, the rarified air, his aniversary, lack of a teleprompter - yeah, let's go with that.
