Romney: I'm not giving up on Pennsylvania

WAYNE, Pa. With 39 days until the election, Mitt Romney on Friday spent precious time campaigning in Pennsylvania, a state he hadn't visited in more than two months and where polls show him trailing President Obama by an average of 8 percentage points.

Brushing aside the numbers, the Republican nominee told a crowd of several hundred people at the Valley Forge Military Academy & College that Obama is taking the state for granted.

"I've got a little secret here and that is that the Obama campaign thinks Pennsylvania is in their pocket -- they don't need to worry about it." Romney said to a chorus of boos. "And you're right and they're wrong; we're going to win Pennsylvania."

It was the third day in a row that Romney has campaigned with members of the military. He kept his focus largely on matters of importance to the defense community, hitting the president for referring to the recent unrest in the Middle East as a "bump in the road" and telling the audience that proposed defense cuts in the sequestration bill could have a large impact in their state.

"Someone has calculated how many jobs will be lost in Pennsylvania if those trillion dollars in cuts go through," Romney said. "It's 39,000 jobs. We can't afford that."

Romney told the group he would not cut the military's budget and would instead increase the amount of troops, Navy ships, and aircraft.

"The administration has characterized their foreign policy as leading from behind - I call that following," Romney said. "It's time for America to lead, and we will lead again."

Following the rally and before flying to Massachusetts for a joint fundraiser with his runningmate Paul Ryan, Romney spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The call came one day after Netanyahu told the United Nations that Iran cannot be allowed to continue enriching uranium beyond next spring or early summer, arguing that at that point the rogue nation will be in a position to quickly produce a nuclear weapon.

Romney met with the Israeli leader earlier this summer in Jerusalem, when Netanyahu called the Republican nominee "a personal friend" and praising Romney's calls for a harsher stance against the Iranian regime. Today's phone call was scheduled in advance, and according to the Weekly Standard, the two men were expected to discuss the situation in Iran and unrest elsewhere in the Middle East.

GOP-R--Con-Men says:
Republicans have shown they place allegiance to Grover Norquist and party over the love of country. Thereby proving they are undeserving of holding public office and shaping public policy.

Think about it. In 2010 republicans campaigned for congress on creating jobs. But what did they do after gaining control of the house? They began the war on women, they cause America's credit rating to be downgraded, they refused to extend unemployment benefits, they refused to allow a vote on President Obama's job act.

They have created unnecessary voter I.D. laws at the state level to suppress the vote of likely Democratic voters. I could go on and on with numeous examples of how republicans have used they public office to benefit corporations, big oil, big pharma and the super rick over struggling Americans.

Bottom line republicans have shown they are incapable and unworthy of holding public office. Now it's up to voters to vote against them like they have voted against us.

all I know is :
the republicans had mass control of congress from 1997-2007 and did not even attempt to fix SS, Medicare, tax systems. How do you have control for 10 years and get nothing done. At least Hillary & Obama tried, one didn't succeed the other did.. What kind of leaders are the republicans? The republicans passed the NCLB mandate without even asking the states. And look at the number of states trying to get waivers. An expensive failed republican mandate.

You really think the GOP house will allow Romney to do anything regarding health care other than repeals it? The GOP house has already publically stated they will take their sweet old time to come up with a replacement IF THEY COME UP WITH ANYTHING. Boehner already stated this as much.

What I want to know is what/how Romney is going to guarantee that the banks/hedge funds never cause another meltdown like in 2007/2008? If that happens again it'll destroy the economy this time vs just putting us into a major recession. What's he going to do? If all out savings are in the bank or invested in 401K/IRAs and our SS is sitting in some mutual fund, we cannot afford another financial crisis. The 1% can handle it, we cannot. If I want to vote for R&R, I want to know what THEY WILL DO. The democrats want to try to restrict the thieves/gamblers from doing it (the Dodd-Frank bill). At least the democrats are trying, what are the republicans doing?

With a voucher program, the government will issue a voucher to people to help (loose term here) people pay for premiums. It does nothing to say that people can find affordable health insurance. It says nothing about insurances accepting people with pre-existing conditions. What do you think you will have by the time you do get to 65? More than likely you will have some sort of pre-existing conditions. And last but not least, the voucher does nothing to reduce the actual cost of health care services.

Remember it was House Republican Majority Eric Cantor that purposely changed the Stock Act (the one about inside trader knowledge) so politicians can still make trades on insider knowledge (just via family members). It was in the original bill, he changed it. Congress had to vote twice to get it done right!!! Who's looking out for whom???

Note Ryan plagiarized the health care cuts from Obama's ACA committee. Romney plagiarized the 12million job creation number from Moody's analysts. Neither giving credit to their sources. Also, Romney will take credit of the 12million jobs that Moody's analysts have already stated that will occur regardless which person is in the WH.

And all of this and I have not even mentioned things like women's rights, etc.

Very well said, and right on point. Other states have given up on the Romney /Ryan ticket as well according to the polls.

Mitt Romney made 42 million in 2010 and 21 million in 2011. Have you wondered how did Mitt Romney made his fortune? Robert Reich, a professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley, explains it in a 3-minute video. Go to Youtube and search for

How Did Mitt Romney Get So Rich? Robert Reich Explains

Bain's Goal was not to grow companies, but to 'Harvest' companies for profit. If you don't believe me, watch Romney's 1985 speech at Bain as he outlined the business model of Bain. Search Youtube for

Mitt Romney on Bain's plan to buy and harvest companies

After watching the video, I felt Romney was not a job creator, as he tries to convince the public. Instead, he was a vulture capitalist, destroying jobs to drain everything out of the business. The well of greed has no bottom.

Your comment or criticism is welcome, but please watch the video before you reply.

BY THE WAY WHAT PARTY DO YOU THINK I AM.

------------

I really don't care, but you seem awfully incapable of blaming the Republicans.

I blame both. I'm simply providing you perspective: that your party does the same things the other party does - no matter which of the liberal major parties you're part of.

Obama and the democrats at least tried to pass laws that would help millions of Americans and improve our failing infrastructure. But the GOP blocked each one and has not done one single thing about anything except to try to recind the ACA over thirty times, knowing that their bills would never survive the senate or the president. The GOP house is useless to the nation when we need strong leaders to help us recover our economy. So far the GOP has stood by doing nothing, aboslutely nothing, so your claim about both parties doesn't ring true.

That's cool, Willard. Go ahead and flush Sheldon Adelson's and the Koch Bros ill-gotten gains down the toilet. They may put a hit on you for doing so after you lose the election. You won't have Secret Service protection then!

Rocky - you said that you are shouting on here because you can't read the print.

One suggestion: hold down "control" and scroll your mouse button forward to increase the size of the screen.

And, one question: If the print is too small to read, causing you to shout in all caps, how are you reading the comments you're responding to?

So you're just shouting for no reason, considering you just read my post?

I've posted again and again that you're complaining about things your side has done, and you don't even realize it. Take some personal responsibility for your views, why don't you?
