(AP) NEW YORK - Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson has filed a defamation lawsuit in New York against the National Jewish Democratic Council and top officials, saying they made libelous statements regarding his political contributions.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan seeks $60 million in damages. Adelson is chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and donates to Republican campaigns.

The lawsuit alleges the Washington-based Council said Adelson personally approved of prostitution in resorts owned by Sands China Limited, a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands. The suit accuses the Council of "assassinating" Adelson's character.

The Council said its reports referenced mainstream press accounts and were "wholly appropriate."

The press accounts described claims by a fired former Sands China executive. Adelson has denied the claims.

Good idea so it will never happen.

Also removing the tax exemptions for religious institutions that indulge in politics will bring in a lot of revenue that could go towards the debt.

Hey, Adelson, better be careful to find out what kind of evidence they have. A good opposing lawyer can make failure to resolve a know nuisance tantamount to tacit approval.

Why isn't Adelson also suing the fired exec for libel? I'm guessing because there IS no libel since libel is deliberate falsehood and the guy is telling the truth.

GOP mega-rich don't want the truth known. GOP CEOs make their millions by using loopholes in the law. They close American factories, layoff thousands of workers and re-open the factory in places like China that have no human rights. This way they can avoid paying a regulated wage, using environmentally friendly manufacturing, following labor laws that protect the worker such as giving them breaks during the working day and limiting the work day to eight hours. GOP CEOs use unethical yet legal ways of becoming billionaires while stomping on the workers and treating worse than working farm animals. What the GOP wants is to have slave labor in the USA. To do this, they want to get absolute control of the government and repeal the First Amendment that protects free speech, press and religion; as well as restrict voting of the working class. People like Adelson dont want anyone to have the right to vote unless they are mega-rich. Why? Because one would have to be a fool to vote for someone who wants to turn you into a slave. Adelson, as well as the Koch brothers, and various other mega-rich that are trying to hide their identities, want what the GOP have been trying to do since Bush was in the whitehouse...create a slave labor society in the USA. Thats why they sent factories to China to begin with, to see if they could import the ideology here. GOP and Romney would create an economic crisis far worse than the one Bush did. Remember that thousands, close to a million people lost jobs, homes, went hungry, lived on the streets and cars, when GOP Bush was in power. Romney would be worse because he will try to eliminate civil and human rights and America's personal freedoms. The only party that defends and respects equal rights and the working class is the Democratic Party. I believe in a free United States and I will vote to Re-Elect President Obama.

"This Obama/Chicago style of mud slinging won't work anymore as Americans have seen first hand how his "Hope & Change" has been a disaster."
----------------------------

All those Bush/Cheney apologists like to tell us how President Obama has failed, but what they so conveniently and deceitfully fail to mention is that our present weak condition is the direct result of the BUSH/CHENEY Iraqi-Afghanistan fiasco.

Cutting taxes while starting two wars caused the financial collapse.

The Bush/Cheney landslide into another great depression has definitely been slowed but it could turn out to be unstoppable, and what caused that was the financial/economic crunch, unemployment rise, and the massive national debt increase, which more than doubled from $5.8 trillion on 9/30/2001(end of last Clinton fiscal year budget), to $11.9 trillion on 9/30/2009 (end of last Bush fiscal year budget). $8.5 trillion added to the debt since 1989 (effectively a Republican tax increase)

The unemployment rate rose from 4.2 % to 7.2 % Dec, 2008 and topped out at 10 % by June 2009 (end of the last Bush fiscal year budget).

They also fail to mention that Americas respect in the world bottomed out because of President Bush's Iraq fiasco.

To any and all readers of this comment: ask yourselves this:

HOW CAN THE NATIONAL-DEBT-INCREASE BE STOPPED WHILE REDUCING REVENUE (taxes) AND INCREASING MILITARY SPENDING?

Even with complete elimination of ALL aid programs, not including social security and Medicare, (because they have ALWAYS been individually funded by payroll deductions).
However, if Republicans do actually reduced SS and Medicare, the payroll tax deductions would almost certainly continue and be used to lessen the effects of other tax cuts and I am sure the wages of ALL non-elected citizens in state AND local governments would be drastically reduced.

BTW. All those outsourced jobs will NEVER return unless and until, the wages of all American workers are reduced to that of the workers to whom the jobs were outsourced, regardless of the 2012 winner.

Elect Romney in 2012 and complete the Republican borrow and spend destruction of America.

Remember too: Romney is a HIGH ranking leader of the Mormon religion, which was created in 1830 by Joseph Smith, a CONVICTED con artist, who made a living duping folks into believing he could find buried treasure with a magic glass in his hat. This may help to explain why Romney can switch positions on any issue; at the drop of his hat!!!!!!!

We are going the way of Latin America-a very wealthy eleite running the country, no middle class and a huge poor population with zero political clout. The US has more poor people than the entire population El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala and Nicaragua combined. And it is growing at a very rapib rate.Citizens United will work to make sure it stays that way. The wealthy don't mind the disparity--- as long as they are safe........
