Fla. Lt. Gov. apologizes for remark about lesbians

(AP) TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll says she is sorry she offended lesbians when she said black women who engage in those relationships don't look like her.

Carroll apologized Thursday, more than a week after making the implication that black lesbians aren't attractive. She was responding to accusations from a former staffer that she once saw Carroll in "a compromising position" with a female travel aide.

The fired staffer, Carletha Cole, made the allegations in a criminal case against her. Cole is charged with secretly taping a conversation with Carroll's chief of staff. She then allegedly gave the tape to a newspaper reporter.

Carroll said in the apology to Equality Florida that it is wrong to make statements that hurt people. She has repeatedly denied Cole's claims.

Until people can be convinced that a person is born with a particular sexual orientation and it is NOT a choice - people like this will continue to use the idea that, "they chose this lifestyle" to justify their bigotry.

The problem with your opinion is that no one made her apologize. She did it of her own free will. There was no one with a gun to her head forcing her to walk back her comment. She could have just as well not apologized at went about her life as usual, and your fantastical "liberal thought police" could not have arrested her for anything.

The headline is totally misleading.

First of all she DID NOT call "black" lesbians ugly, but implied that ALL lebians are ususally not attractive, thus the response from all races of lesbians. her statement:

"For twenty-nine years, I'm the one that's married for twenty-nine years. The accuser is the one that's been single for a long time. So usually black women that look like me don't engage in relationships like that."

Caroll is an attractive woman, and being a Trinidadian probably a concervative and a Republican.

Ya, I kinda got that impression from the article since she was defending herself from a supposed verbal lie stated by an ex-employee terminated because of, and now being prosecuted for, criminal activity. Why get angry with the Lt. Governor for defending a private part of her life that she felt was not correctly conveyed to the public? Would not the real antagonist of the gay community be the person who intentionally accused the Lt. Governor of being someone she is not? Bottom line, she is a woman defending her own life style. Isn't that exactly what the gay community tries to do?? Besides, she is an elected official, if I am not mistaken. If you don't like what she said and you live in that state, then you can vote her out of office.

The beauty of a person is inwardly, in his or her heart and mind (their values of honesty, purity, appropriate love): outward beauty is immaterial.
Therefore:
Black lesbians are ugly,
White lesbians are ugly,
Bank robbers are ugly,
Illegal immigrants are ugly,
Adulterers are ugly,
Drug runners are ugly,
Those who shoot and murder the innocent are ugly,
Etc.
Blacks who help others are beautiful,
Whites who give to the poor are beautiful,
Those who love only in an appropriate manner are beautiful,
Those who love our heavenly Father are beautiful,
Those who are always honest in their dealings are beautiful,
Those who raise their children with compassion are beautiful,
Those who hold to the mores and folkways of society are beautiful,
Etc.

And what about those who judge the sex lives of strangers? Are they ugly or beautiful?

And......is there no inbetween, or is everything black and white?

If you read what was said with wisdom and a discerning mind, you might be able to see that no person was judged.

What was judged was the ACTS of various TYPES of people.
