Michigan State Rep. Lisa Brown

(AP) LANSING, Mich. — A Michigan lawmaker barred from speaking in the state House after she used the word "vagina" during a debate on an anti-abortion bill will participate in a performance of the Tony Award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," on the state Capitol steps.

Michigan Democratic Party fundraiser Laura Hornshaw said Saturday in an email that Monday evening's performance was planned in response to Rep. Lisa Brown not being allowed to speak on the House floor Thursday.

Republicans who control the chamber said the West Bloomfield Democrat violated decorum Wednesday while speaking against a bill requiring doctors to ensure women aren't coerced into ending their pregnancies.

Brown told Republicans she was flattered they were "all so concerned about my vagina. But no means no."

Will she have anything to say about misogynist 3rd world cultures that seek to dominate America through immigration? They'll have the numbers to do it soon enough. This is the biggest possible threat to American women, even if Radical Feminists find it more fun (and politically correct) to blame "white males" for everything.

What is it with the left and Democrats and their obsession with sex, perverts and sexual deviants in their party and vulgarities.
The women like the men have no morals or class.
I bet Lisa Brown would have loved some obscene pictures of Anthony Weiner set to her over the web.

I will not vote Republican again until they lose this issue and they stop catering to the religious fascist's that support them!!! It has gotten to the point of being disgusting the intrusion into women's lives. I see it as being immoral to bring an unwanted child into this world for any reason. Then dump it at the nearest orphanage and pat yourself on the back that you have done such a moral thing by overpopulating the earth. It's time Republican's got back to the problems in this country that require their attention instead of wasting their time on useless social issues.

Thank goodness someone wants to start vagina monologues. Although the lawmakers are at best going about it the wrong way. In other words, why do you want to look and probe? I Just want someone to biopsy my vagina and have now been turned down, refused a diagnoses by three different doctors. It is little wonder the number of women who die from Ovarian and Uterus Cancer are staggering. If we cannot get timely testing how in the world will we EVER expect to get treatment? It is bad enough studies on the female reproductive organs only began less than twenty years ago...but why are we being REFUSED the very tests which, if done early enough could save our very lives? Now I have growths not only on my ovaries but on my Kidney's and still the doctors refuse to biopsy to find out if they are malignant or beguine.
Very truly yours,

If someone can kindly give me the name and number of Doctor who performs these I would be ever so grateful!

I don't understand why this woman has not challenged this in a court of law. Contrary to popular belief, Congress CANNOT pass any law in violation of the Constitution and neither can state legislatures.

This is an obvious violation of the First Amendment and wouldn't stand up in a court of law.

No matter how stupid the her remarks are that is true! But sometimes in certain situations, you just have to follow decorum!

Michigan unemployment has upticked to over 8.5% and predicted to climb the rest of the year due to companies announcing layoffs. I don't think the Michigan electorate is much interested in being entertained.

This is backwards, the unemployment just dropped to the national average after a years break from a very liberal state government. Michigan is doing much better!

When male legislators think they can have a right to tell female citizens what they are and are not permitted to do with their bodies, based on religious beliefs the female citizens do not share, and in violation of rights recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court, yes, we take it personally! And we'll remember in November!

Excuse me, but many WOMEN are against abortion as well and feel that it should be as illegal as murder is, because it is nothing more than murder under a more pleasant name.

Those women usually also feel that birth control should be easily available to all females from the time they get their first period.

I agree. The GOP and Tea Party are people who believe and live by two mantras of 'Me, Me and Me' and 'What is Mine is Mine'. It is a culture of Social Darwinism which the GOP heartily believe that the stronger (the 1%) will inherit the Earth..and Heaven.

Kpeters does a nice job of proving your point. He/She missed the point entirely, because they refuse to allow a moral compass into their lives. What is a 1%? Slogan to hide a lack of ideas?

I agree that it was somewhat heavy handed to stop her from speaking. The remark was immature, and the part about "no means no" was certainly offensive as it seems to compared the bill with rape. Nevertheless, I agree she should be allowed to speak as offensive speech most needs to be protected and her speech was not obscene. So there, a conservative has just conceded the correctness of your point! Good day.
