Boehner: 2012 election is all about economics

(CBS News) In the presidential race, Mitt Romney was endorsed Tuesday by the highest-ranking Republicans in Congress: House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Later, Boehner sat down with "CBS This Morning" anchor Charlie Rose, who asked the Speaker what Romney needs to do going forward.

Rose: Does he need to sort of reset his campaign? Does he need to get together and say to himself and to people he has and to you and to the leadership in the Senate, "I want to take this opportunity to redefine myself because many Americans have not focused on this campaign"?

Complete coverage: Election 2012

Boehner: That's pretty hard to do, but after any primary there's always a little retooling, always some adjustments. You have a different opponent. I think you'll see some new things out of this campaign.

Rose: Like what?

Boehner: A real focus on what the election is going to be about: economics, economics, economics.

You can see more of Charlie's interview with Speaker Boehner first thing tomorrow on "CBS This Morning."

I say to the Top 1% Whiners: Pay your fair share. I say to the 1% Whiners: Look at all you get for your taxes: America. We seriously can no longer count on elections that are paid for and fraudulent because of the Top 1%. We need to organize non-violent direct action BEFORE the elections since we run this country if we want to. They need us more than we need them. Let's take them down and take it back!

see his handler has given him some new phrase instead of NO, NO, NO, it is ECONOMICS, ECONOMICS, ECONOMICS. Now you and Mitty go and have yourself a good tanning session and play with your etcher-sketch and maybe Ann will un-zip Mitty for you.

It's nice to read these comments. I watch the news and I see no one saying these things. They talk about the election like it's an even race, and it makes me wonder if America was somewhere else during the last 30 years. It hasn't. The news just wants people to watch TV. Nothing else. No news. No facts. No integrity. Just money. America knows what's really going on.

Right on! Vote all the bums out! Every darn one of them. Boehner has made it more than apparent that he views the average American as nothing other than fodder to grease the wheels of money making for his rich cronies. Everytime he opens his mouth I am torn between swearing profusely and throwing up. My father, a disabled WWII veteran, would be sickened by knowing someone with Boehner's disdain for the average man is in Congress. I miss my father tremendously, but am glad he is not here to suffer the cruelest insult his country could give him, being viewed as a nobody because he is not rich.

I would like to ask Mr. Boehner what he has done in the last 10 years or so that bettered the life of his constituents. I would love to hear the lies fly after that question.

Boehner's right, to a republican, the election is all about money. lol. To a democrat it's more about the people in general. Boehner and his selfish party, and their followers, need to care about other people rather than just themselves and other rich people. The economy won't get better until they get some sense.

I agree. But the only way that anything will EVER get done is to vote these career cobwebs out of office.

If its all about economics why is it the only thing the Republicans take legislative action on is abortion, birth control, restriction of voter registration, pro-vigilante laws? If anyone can point out any action a Republican legislative majority has promoted that would be beneficial to the everyday working person, please do so.
