(AP) BOISE, Idaho - Idaho senators approved a measure requiring all women to undergo a fetal ultrasound before terminating a pregnancy.
Monday's 23-12 vote sends the bill to the House.
Idaho's measure, similar to Texas and Virginia laws, requires a doctor performing an abortion or prescribing medication to terminate a pregnancy to conduct a fetal ultrasound.
The woman would have the option of viewing the image and listening to a heartbeat.
The measure would also require the Department of Health and Welfare make available a list of places, typically anti-abortion clinics, where those considering an abortion could get a free ultrasound.
But those women would still have to submit to an ultrasound during an abortion procedure, too.
Advocates say this will protect unborn life.
Opponents called it government intrusion akin to George Orwell's "1984."

Since when KNOWING what we are about to do is an attack on anyone?
Information EMPOWERS the individual, in this case empower us WOMEN to exercise our freedom of Choice.
Why are these spoke-persons for Planned Parenthood in arms?
The real War on Women is from those who wish to keep us in the dark!
........That is except when they are for ALL those same things.
Imagine what the arguments would be if a womans uterus were declared a corporation. "Let the Free Market Decide!"...."Regulations are stifling the profitability of our Uteri!"...."Unfunded mandates are reducing the production of our uteri and the costs are causing them to move off-shore."
What an odd world, where free market "liberals" and social draconians reside in the selfsame party.
No means No! Unless it's the State of Idaho, then you might as well just relax and don't fight it.

Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness thing.
Without life you can't have the other two.
