Obama makes 3 recess appointments to NLRB

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama is bypassing GOP opposition to make three more recess appointments - this time to the National Labor Relations Board.

The move came hours after Obama used a similar tactic to install former Ohio Atty. Gen. Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

Both moves infuriated GOP leaders, who threatened legal action and warned that Obama was setting a dangerous precedent by ignoring the will of Congress.

The NLRB has been a target of Republicans who claim it has tilted too far in favor of unions. Senate Republicans had pledged to block Obama from making any further board appointments.

The agency usually has five members but has been operating with just three. It lost another member this week, leaving it unable to reach major decisions.

Obama has been MORE than patient trying to work with the republicans on this. He (and the American people) have been patiently waiting for 2 years for these confirmation hearings to take place. There are over 220 people who were appointed to positions that are sitting on the sidelines, not knowing if they are going to sell their homes and move to Washington, change their kids schools and have a job that they qualified for and passed the interviews.

The Republicans have stalled the confirmation process at every level and every chance they got. It is not fair to these Americans or their families to keep them in limbo for your own political gain.

If the republicans disagree with the new consumer protection bureau ( but already said the guy was a good choice), then the need to change the bureau and put this man to work for the American people. We are the ones paying the price for these offices sitting empty and nothing getting done.

No ... the Presidents aren't dictators. Congress is incompetent. If you really want things to improve make sure you recognize where the problem really is.
