Harrison Ford on reunion for "Star Wars VII": "I think it's happening"

Director George Lucas said that Freeborn was "already a makeup legend" when he started working on "Star Wars."

It looks like we're one step closer to an official word that the J.J.Abrams-directed "Star Wars VII" will see the original cast reunited again. And the latest news has come from none other than Han Solo himself.

Harrison Ford recently told WGN9 News at a Michigan Avenue magazine cover party in Chicago that the "old gang" is reuniting -- or at least, he's pretty sure they are. "I think it's almost true. I'm looking forward to it ... it's not in the bag yet, but I think it's happening," said Ford in a semi-confirmation.

But we'll take it. Rumors have been swirling throughout the stratosphere lately as to whether the trio would reprise their original roles in "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is expected to be released in 2015. And the rumors are coming from the people who would know. First Carrie Fisher let it slip that she may be donning her signature buns again, and then creator George Lucas all but put the final nail in the spaceship, when he said, "we had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison -- or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation."

And now that the man, the myth, the legend, Han Solo himself has spoken up -- so we have no where to go but up up and away from here. Now all we need is an official announcement from Lucasfilm owner Disney, and the force shall officially be with us (in 2015 that is).

Tell us: Are you excited to see the original cast reunited? How do you think they will work their "new" ages into the film?

I expect Abrams to make it his own. Fortunetly Abrams draws inspiration from Lucas and Speilburg, but puts his own twist on it. I loved all 6 and I know the new trilogy is going to be amazing. It might not be what you expect, or what the original trilogy was, but try to be open minded.

I just hope Abrams doesn't kill it with Green Screen technology like I, II, and III; I don't want to watch glorified cartoons. I want to watch the Star Wars of old!!!! He should go back to basics, find out what worked for Lucus and then make it better without reinventing it. .

It's great the old cast are coming back, to bridge the eras. It's a stroke of genious, since the prequel is one big exposition-fest of blathering young Vader being a slave that turns eeeevil, with absolutely no character depth or involvement...

Abrams' definitely will put out the right feel. SW was about the action/adventure with some solid spirituality. As long as he doesn't make it Earth-centric a la his take on the Trek franchise, I seriously do think he is the right guy for the job.

I look at it this way. It can't be worse than Episodes I, II and III.

Abrams is the best director out there at the moment. If he can't make a great new SW movie nobody can.

As a Star Wars fan since I was 5 who still remembers standing in a very long line way back in 77 to see the first Star Wars aka episode 4 now, I have to disagree about the last 3 because they were not bad. Episode 1 could have used a little more editing out of the politics, episode 2 could have been a little less cheesy with the love story, and episode 3 ties with episode 5 aka the Empire Strike Back as a very strong movie.

I can see an older Mark playing a wizened Luke but seeing an old Han and Leia? Uh no.
