No one can ever say that Daniel Radcliffe is in danger of being typecast.

The 23-year-old star may soon be adding a hunchback lab assistant to his roster of eclectic roles that include playing a wizard, a poet, a lawyer, an overly-zealous equine lover, an overly-zealous business man, and a song-and-dance master to name just a few.

The "Harry Potter" star is in talks to play Igor in Fox's upcoming remake of "Frankenstein." Based on Mary Shelley's classic novel, the film will be directed by Paul McGuigan ("Lucky Number Slevin") and written by Max Landis (son of "American Werewolf in London" director John Landis).

Since his star-making turn as Harry Potter, the British actor has been busy seemingly trying to distance himself from his "Potter" roots. Most recently he played beat poet Alan Ginsberg in the sexually-explicit "Kill Your Darlings," and he previously played a teenager who had an intimate passion (to put it mildly) for horses, in the play "Equus."

And his adventurous post-Potter choices have garnered plenty of attention, particularly his portrayal of Ginsberg in the Sundance Film Festival hit "Darlings." "People were asking me all these questions about the gay sex scenes. I was like: 'You know I did "Equus"? Some people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject, which is so strange."

If he can stand naked on Broadway, tackle the iconic character of Alan Ginsberg -- romantic escapades and all -- survive the "Woman in Black," and fly through the air on a broomstick, we feel confident that he can master a believable hunchback.

Igor is only in the 1931 "Frankenstein" movie, which is the absolute opposite of the book by Mary Shelley. The creator of the monster is named Victor Frankenstein, not the monster. His friend is Henry Clerval, not Victor Clerval. Elizabeth, Victor's adopted sister marries him, not Henry. No one helps Victor create the monster and Victor runs away from the monster right away. He does not tie him up. I will not watch a movie this illiterate.
