Fun. to headline first-ever Boston Calling festival

Boston is getting its own music festival this year, and Grammy-winning band fun. is set to headline.

The Boston Calling Music Festival, set for May 25 and 26 at Boston's City Hall Plaza, will also feature The Shins, Matt and Kim, Of Monsters and Men, Andrew Bird, Ra Ra Riot and other acts.

Tickets for the festival go on sale Friday at 10:00 am ET. Two-day general admission passes will cost $120.

"We saw that there was a void for a music festival," said organizer Brian Appel, who named the festival after The Clash's "London Calling" album "We thought that the location was overlooked by lots of people because of preconceived notions of the barren landscape. [W]e thought that we could do a really nice job and turn it into a wonderful outdoor concert experience in the middle of the city."

Other major cities host annual music festivals, including Chicago's Lollapalooza and New York's Governors Ball.
