"The Jeff Probst Show" canceled after one season

"The Jeff Probst Show" won't live to see a second season.

Although the syndicated show had a two-year deal, CBS Television Distribution has decided it doesn't have the ratings to survive another season.

"We believe Jeff is an incredible talent and that he and his dedicated producing team delivered quality episodes throughout the season," CBS Television Distribution explained in a statement. "Unfortunately, the audience isn't there to support a second year. We are grateful to the entire staff, our affiliate partners and advertisers for their ongoing support of 'The Jeff Probst Show.' Production and broadcast of original episodes will continue through the current season."

"I'm super bummed but extremely proud. The truth is all shows come to an end -- ours just ended a decade sooner than we had hoped," Probst said in a statement.

Probst's show covers "topics including relationships and family dynamics, newsmakers of the day, families and individuals facing challenges."

Despite the news, Probst, isn't without work. The longtime "Survivor" host can be seen in Season 26 of "Survivor," which premiered Wednesday night on CBS.

Earlier this month, Twentieth Television announced it wouldn't be renewing "The Ricki Lake Show." Last year, Anderson Cooper learned his talk show would not be renewed for another season.

I live in the Houston area, and our afternoon TV line up is awful !! UNTIL we got The Jeff Probst Show on. At first, I was not interested -as I am not a Survivor Fan. After a few days of checking this show out, I was hooked!. His show is clean, fun, interesting, all around a great show! It just makes me so angry that when a great show comes on, it gets yanked off! I guess if his show was more liberal like the The Talk, hate this show because of the very liberal views, or The View, cannot stand this most liberal show & if your not a democrat.... They could care less about 1/2 the viewers out here in the real world, who are a little more conservative.
Believe it or not, there is a audience out here that like a afternoon talk show that is good, clean, fun and interesting !!! Come on people, PLEASE, PLEASE RECONSIDER KEEPING THE JEFF PROBST SHOW ON!!!!

It's a fabulously funny, entertaining, educational, real life, sad and happy, mad and... umm....unhappy? lol, and has the best guests from all walks of life, you cant get that these days, its all crap! What I'm trying to say is that this show is for everything AND everybody, we just cant get that anywhere these days :o( What can we do?!?!? What can I do?!?! Is there anything the fans can do to stop this madness???

I will admit I was not wild about this show on my first visit or perhaps even second. But in the Houston market the other choice is two game shows and I do not like those at all. If perhaps he was against a super show I might have never returned. But I did and with a couple visits I discovered that he had some very interesting guests. Perhaps I liked it because it is more like a news show than not. I watch two morning news shows but not CBS since you dropped Harry. I watch a lot of CNN. But Like Anderson Cooper, Jeff has a good style that you like. I am not surprised CBS cancelled as they rarely take the time to develop anything anymore. If a show doesn't develop an immediate following in a show or two they are out the door. Considering there are hundreds of shows on cable at that time of day it seems silly to think a new show will be Oprah or Ellen out of the box. I guess that the bottom line is advertisers. Regardless of what you program I will not be watching those unless it is interesting. Target does cute commercials. Or note people tune in to watch superbowl commercials. They hope to find a cute or funny one. Perhaps advertisers should rethink what would capture a viewers interest. Anyway sad about this show as I am guessing what comes next will be worse. Remember they had the housewives drivel at some point.

Maybe advertisers should consider having their shows on the air, for example:

All my runs - Pepto Bismol
Disappearing Chicken - Kuntucky Fried
The Clown and the Burger - McDonald
My 10 million MPH car - Ford
Laugh In 2 - Congress

I'll be the first to admit I don't watch talk shows, however, while taking time off work recently I happened to be channel surfing when the "Jeff Probst Show" caught my attention; caught and HELD my attention! I enjoyed watching the entire show, and found Probst to be an insightful, interesting interviewer. I'm sure he will soon have another show soon with his talent.
