Nora Ephron tribute planned for WGA Awards

Nora Ephron's body of work will soon be celebrated by her peers.

The Writer's Guild of America, East has announced plans for a special tribute to Ephron during the upcoming Writers Guild Awards East Coast ceremony. The awards show will be held in New York -- Ephron's hometown.

Nora Ephron: 1941-2012

"Not only did she embody the sophistication, wit and energy of our city, she was also a loyal union member who walked the picket line and talked the talk on behalf of all her fellow writers," Michael Winship, president of Writers Guild of America, East, said in a statement, according to Deadline.

Ephron died of leukemia at the age of 71 on June 26, 2012, in Manhattan .

The films of Nora Ephron

Often seen as a trailblazer for women filmmakers, Ephron seved as the co-writer and director of films such as "Julie & Julia," "Sleepless in Seattle," and "You've Got Mail." She also penned the screenplay for the Rob Reiner-directed comedy, "When Harry Met Sally."

The tribute for Ephron will be led by her friend and author Meg Wolitzer, whose novel served as the inspiration for Ephron's 1992 dramatic comedy, "This Is My Life."
