Jamie Foxx has been lending his support to the Trayvon Martin family. The 45-year-old Oscar winner made an appearance at two events in Miami this weekend alongside Martin's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, for the Justice for Trayvon Martin Foundation.

Foxx marched with Martin's parents in Ives Estate Park Saturday for a peace walk held in the slain teen's honor.

The "Ray" star followed that up the next day by attending the We Remember Trayvon Inaugural Remembrance Dinner at the DoubleTree Miami Airport Hotel.

Martin was shot and killed on Feb. 26, 2012, near his father's Sanford, Fla., home during an altercation with neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. He was 17. His death has sparked fierce debate across the nation over race and the validity of so-called Stand Your Ground Laws.

Zimmerman's trial is expected to begin in mid-June.

"It's a minor, just simply on his way home, to see his father, and we can't be an America, and we can't be a world like that," Foxx said at the remembrance dinner Sunday.

Foxx has attracted criticism lately over his acceptance speech at the NAACP Image Awards Feb. 1, with some calling the actor's remarks "racist."

"Black people are the most talented people in the world," Foxx said as he accepted the Entertainer of the Year honor, according to Radar.

But during his appearance at the Trayvon Martin dinner in Miami, Foxx was quick to point out that his support for the slain teen's foundation "has nothing to do with race, or anything like that."

He said his motivations for supporting the Martin foundation stem from his own experiences as a father.

"You expect [your children] to not only to come home, but to enjoy moments and send them off to college, and all these wonderful things, so that's what I was touched by," Foxx said at the remembrance dinner.

It is very sad that a young man had to die, because Zimmerman would NOT back off when he was told to. Trayvon had not done anything wrong, he just wanted to get home and eat some snacks and watch a basketball game. Of course he is going to fight back when he feels that the person continues to follow him. If Zimmerman would of Backed Off this would not of happened, but Zimmerman was hoping to be a Hero or Police Officer and instead he TOOK A LIFE!

George Zimmerman is the victim of a miscarriage of justice. He was attacked on the night of 2/26 and acted in self defense. Despite witness statements that support his claims, the special prosecutor assigned to the case charged him with a crime. Now the prosecutors are playing a game of hide-and-seek with critical evidence that could exonerate George and, at the same time are expediting his trial so that he will not be able to adequately defend himself. The legal and security costs to defend George have reached such staggering proportions that his defense team may not be able to pay for the experts necessary to interpret the evidence for the jury.

GEORGE NEEDS YOUR HELP TO FIGHT THIS MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE!

CONTRIBUTE TO HIS DEFENSE FUND AT THE GZ LEGAL CASE WEBSITE!

THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF US!

Jamie Foxx wouldn't have given this case one second of his time if Martin had been Hispanic and Zimmerman had been been black. In fact, had Zimmerman's last name been Garcia, no one would pay any attention to this case. In the 911 call, Zimmerman was specifically asked what race the suspect was. In it's normal hypocritical fashion, the media edited the call to make it appear that Zimmerman was a racist, which has been proven is not the case. If there hadn't been a rash of break-ins in the neighborhood, Zimmerman probably wouldn't have even been out there. If Martin had been white, and all other circumstances were the same, nothing would have been done other than give props to Zimmerman for rooting out crime. If you don't see the reality of this situation, then keep your stupid mouths shut!!
