BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. Sylvester Stallone says that despite his "Rambo" image and new shoot-em-up film "Bullet to the Head," he's in favor of new national gun control legislation.

Stallone supported the 1994 "Brady bill" that included a now-expired ban on assault weapons, and hopes that ban can be reinstated.

Sylvester Stallone talks "Bullet to the Head"

"I know people get (upset) and go, `They're going to take away the assault weapon.' Who ... needs an assault weapon? Like really, unless you're carrying out an assault. ... You can't hunt with it. ... Who's going to attack your house, a (expletive) army?"

The 66-year-old actor, writer and director said he also hopes for an additional focus on mental health to prevent future mass shootings.

"It's unbelievably horrible, what's happened. I think the biggest problem, seriously, is not so much guns. It's that every one of these people that have done these things in the past 30 years are friggin' crazy. Really crazy! And that's where we've dropped the ball: mental health," he said. "That to me is our biggest problem in the future, is insanity coupled with isolation."

Stallone is now in production on his next project, pairing up with the former "Raging Bull" Robert De Niro for "Grudge Match," about two aging boxers.

"People think it's going to be some geezer brawl. Really? OK, they're in for a surprise. I'm telling you. I've been working on the fight, the choreography. He's taking it deadly serious. Because no one wants to be shown up," Stallone said of De Niro. "It's going to be like a `Rocky' fight. This will be `Rocky 7,' with me fighting — with Rocky fighting the `Raging Bull."'

Makes a good point. Its the crazy people getting guns that kill people.
Its not about anything that is reality to them. The mentally unstable that are acting out their fears or delusional thoughts by way of mass killings.
Even a robber does not use assault rifles to rob a store. He uses a handgun. He's not going there to kill a bunch of people. He's going to rob a place to get money. Solve then mental health issues of America and you solve almost every mass killing problem America has.

Another Hollywood moron that doesn't know a semi-automatic rifle from a fully automatic rifle. Fully automatic "assault" rifles have been illegal to own and possess since the 1950's. An M-16 is an assault rifle. No soldier in his right mind would attempt an assault anywhere in Afghanistan with an AR-15. Even the M-16 is not up to the job there. But you have to have some intelligence about the subject of real assault weapons to understand that.

Wrong, it is not illegal for a law-abiding adult US citizen to own a fully automatic firearm so long as he has paid his $200 transfer tax to the US Treasury and submitted the proper paperwork in accordance with the National Firearms Act of 1934.

Why would anybody be in favor of these proposed gun bans ?? The ban that ended in 2004 proved without doubt that they don't work..this a fact and not a theory. And none of the mass shootings would have been prevented by these bans. The bans on these semi automatic rifles is a bogus scam because they want to ban how these rifles look that has nothing to do with how they function or operate. Even the term "assault rifles" which is used by the gun grabbers and the media is an invented propaganda term..these semi automatic rifles are not assault rifles and are not used by the military in any war zones. semi automatic weapons have been in use by the public for over a 100 years,,,and there are many use's for the modern versions of these rifles...Many hunt with them despite what the liberals say,and in some areas they are even legal for deer, and used by many because they're light and accurate,,,many target shoot with these rifles, then there are those who use them in competition which is a growing sport all across the country,..and many want these rifles for survival in case of a national emergency either a man made disaster or a natural disaster which is not that unreasonable...but in any case law abiding citizens shouldn't have to explain why they want these rifles..it's their 2nd amendment rights and only around 1% of all the shootings are done with rifles.
