Singer Sheryl Crow has told "Entertainment Tonight" that it would have been difficult for her ex-fiance, former cycling champion Lance Armstrong, to keep his doping secret any longer.

"I think that honesty is always the best bet and that the truth will set you free," Crow told ET's Nancy O'Dell. The musician told ET she only saw "bits and pieces" of Armstrong's confession interview with Oprah Winfrey. "To carry around a weight like that would be devastating in the long run."

Armstrong and Crow dated from 2003 until splitting in 2006.

Funny, because the auto-tuner is where it is today because of Crow. She can't hold a note in real time if her life depended on it.

After hearing her flat as a board on about 4-5 different live settings, I rested my case. I figured it might be bad monitors the first 2 times, but not afterwards.

What a hypocrite - Sheryl Crowe lied on the David Letterman show and took credit for writing her songs, when in fact, they were written by her boyfriend at the time, the immensely talented Kevin Gilbert. Gilbert ended up committing suicide as a result of that betrayal.

I hardly think he commited suicide by Autoerotic Asphyxiation
much less because Crow hurt his feelings. What a stupid thing to say.

Wow, you are so right. I'll tell you...I'm a 59 year old man who has been a lover of all sorts of music my entire life. Even today I was looking online about Thomas Dolby and Howard Jones. And, I have never run across anyone any more talented than Kevin Gilbert. I believe that he was an absolute, true genius. The original "Toy Matinee" is my all-time favorite album...even ahead of The Beatles, Steely Dan, etc...Yes, Sheryl did ride his coattails into stardom. It was shameful how she refused to credit him with much of anything (much less her whole career). No doubt if it weren't for Kevin...she'd still be sleeping around trying to get noticed...every night...after she finished her $60 a night gig at some smoky, lizard infested Holiday Inn lounge somewhere.

After the way Armstrong dumped her after finding out SHE had cancer, I'm surprised she even cares anymore.

Armstrong is the "Pete Rose" of cycling.

Sorry, but Pete Rose didn't go on an endless smear campaign to take down the people talking against him. Armstrong is pathetic in that regard.
