"Drop Dead Diva" won't see another year on Lifetime.

The channel has decided to pull the plug on the series, starring Brooke Elliott and Margaret Cho, after four seasons.

The one-hour comedic drama told the story of a wannabe model who dies in an accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of deceased attorney, Jane Bingum, portrayed by Elliot. Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian, Brandy and Serena Williams were among the guest stars who appeared on the series through the years.

The news comes three months after "Drop Dead Diva" wrapped its fourth season.

Margaret Cho: "I really look like Kim Jong Il"

Last year, Cho, who played legal assistant Teri Lee on the show, told CBSNews.com about what it was like on the set of "Drop Dead Diva."

"We work pretty hard," Cho said. "When you do these one-hour shows, you are essentially making a movie in eight days. And so we really are putting in long hours and it's pretty intense down there. We're outside of Atlanta and it's pretty hot right now. And everybody's so close because we all come from Los Angeles and New York and put into this new environment. And we've really held on to each other, which is really awesome."

Although "Drop Dead Diva" is dead on Lifetime, fans of the series may be in luck. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures TV may shop it around elsewhere.

DDD fans, keep the pressure on Lifetime. Tweet, e mail and call there offices. Flood there phones lines and demand to know why the best show on TV has been cancelled. 212-424-7000 NY Office, 310-556-7500 LA Office, 312-464-1991 Chicago Office. I for one am disgusted with them cancelling DDD, so I called my cable company and cancelled Lifetime from my cable programming. If you agree, do the same. Lets see how they like it. Together we just may be able to make a difference. Long Live Triple "D"

Let's just hope they'll do what Coke did back in the 70's (I think that's when it was) after they changed the formula to "New Coke". All their loyal consumers kicked up such a fuss that they brought back "Coke Classic" and finally did away with New Coke altogether. Sometimes corporations underestimate the passion of their consumers/fanbase. They obviously didn't think this through. Is it not "edgy" enough for a network which purports to be all about the empowerment of women to have a show in which the model still ends up with her fiance (the supposed love of her life) even after she is transported into a plus-sized body? How about the message that you don't have to be a skinny blonde model to attain your goals? Not edgy enough, Lifetime? Right, let's keep the plus-sized dance teacher who screams at kids until they cry. Much more empowering for women.

In the words of Jane Bingum, "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?" I'm very disappointed in Lifetime TV. Not only do they promote crappy reality tv programs but they assume that's what people like. Well, I'm not one of those people who enjoys watching women screaming at wee little kids like in Dancing Moms. You used Drop Dead Diva to heavily promote your reality tv shows and then gave it the boot? That's just wrong. Give the show one more season and let us and the cast have closure.
A side note, back in the 80s, something like this happened to Remington Steele. It had a brief cancellation and then the network (NBC) brought it back for 3 2 hour tv movies. It worked the fans got closure and the actors got to finish a great show. Do the right thing like NBC did and rethink what you've just done and compete this wonderful show. Most of us want a mini tv movie, make it a special -- and give us what we deserve.

This is so disappointing! We haven't even seen Grayson find out about Jane being Deb for certain! Not to mention real Jane being in Owen's body! I was really looking forward to that one! lol Awwww, I am so going to miss this show. BOOOO Lifetime!

I cannot believe they would string us a long for 4 years and then right at the point where it was all going to make sense to us, THEY CANCEL IT! This is insane. I am so angry. We deserve better. At least a movie wrapping it all up or something. But to just leave us hanging is crazy.

This was a terrible decision. I am so disappointed with the Lifetime network. They have clearly lost sight of what they are supposed to be about, the viewers. My Life. My Time? This is such a slap in the face to all the fans who became invested in this wonderful series for 4 seasons. Fans deserve a proper ending and I truly hope another network will pick it up! Leaving us with that cliffhanger ending was just cruel and if that's the kind of network Lifetime is gonna be, than I don't want to support them anymore. They are more concerned about producing reality tv to save a buck, than putting out quality television

Speaking of, CBS would be a fantastic network for Drop Dead Diva! CBS should pick it up!!!

I can't believe that Drop Dead Diva isn't going into a fifth season. The last episode of season four was a total cliffhanger. I'm not satisfied. I really hope they can start up the show again.
