Huell Howser, the homespun host of public television's popular "California's Gold," has died at age 67.
A spokeswoman for KCET-Los Angeles says Howser died Sunday night of natural causes.
Howser's "California's Gold" took viewers to many parts of the Golden State, delivering insights on its history and natural wonders in a Tennessee twang.
KCET corporate communications manager Ayn Allen says the station will be airing a special on Howser Monday night.

- He was so excited about the smallest of things on his show. And his enthusiasm was contagious. He was just a nice guy. RIP buddy and you can give us a tour of the Pearly Gates when we get there.

- It's just too bad to hear about Huell Howser passing. I really did enjoying "California's Gold" and dreaming about the places I'd go when I was visiting California. And such a shock, on top of everything else. I know he had recently stopped filming his show over health concerns, but it still seems so early for him to go. I didn't even have him in my celeb death pool http://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/celebrity-death-pool-2013 until I heard the news today. Just a sad day.
