Updated 1:22 p.m. ET

A Los Angeles judge revoked Lindsay Lohan's probation on Wednesday and scheduled a violation hearing that could result in more jail time for the 26-year-old star.

The "Liz and Dick" actress faces three counts of reckless driving, lying to a police officer and obstructing an officer from performing duties after an accident in which Lohan's Porsche slammed into the back of a dump truck in June. Authorities in Santa Monica, Calif., allege that Lohan lied about being behind the wheel before the accident and the charges could prompt a probation violation in her 2011 necklace theft case.

Lohan did not appear in court Wednesday. She was represented by her attorney, Shawn Holley. California defendants facing misdemeanors can avoid appearing in court if they are represented by an attorney, unless a judge orders otherwise.

The new case could prompt a judge to sentence Lohan to jail for violating her probation for taking a $2,500 necklace from a store without permission in 2011. The jewelry was later returned, but it sparked months of court hearings and morgue cleanup duty for the star, who has struggled personally and professionally since being arrested twice in 2007 for driving under the influence.

A probation violation in the necklace case could result in Lohan being sentenced to 245 days in jail after the Santa Monica case is resolved. Her probation violation hearing is set for Jan. 15.

"Liz & Dick" premiere

Lohan was on her way to the set of the Lifetime biopic "Liz and Dick" on Pacific Coast Highway before the June accident, which sent her to the hospital briefly. She returned to the set later in the day, but police determined she had lied about her assistant driving her Porsche at the time.

After being removed from supervised probation in March, Lohan attempted to mount a comeback, filming "Liz & Dick," the Bret Easton Ellis-written film "The Canyons" and a cameo with Charlie Sheen in the latest installment of the "Scary Movie" franchise.

"Liz and Dick," in which she played screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, wasn't greeted favorably by fans or critics when it premiered last month.

Lohan was ordered to remain out of trouble and a judge urged her to stop partying at nightclubs, but neither has happened.

She also faces a misdemeanor assault charge in New York after a woman claimed she was hit by Lohan in a Manhattan nightclub. It is unknown whether New York prosecutors will pursue charges, or drop them as they did earlier this year when Lohan was accused of hitting a man with her car.

It took them 6 months to figure out to charge her for running into the truck? I am not a fan of hers by any means. Nor am I a fan of her lifestyle. It seems more like some kind of malicious harassment based on the news stories. Like she got someone high up upset so they will hold charges on the table until they want to get her again. Something is not right here. There are lots of celebrities who do the same kind of dumb things yet Lindsey is the only one they go after constantly.

If the retarded (Aka Californian) Judge had really revoked her probation the drugged out skank would be in jail. Scheduling a hearing to decide if she is really going to go back to jail for that silly little felony she committed is a perfect example of why the Big Quake needs to flush California into the sea right now. Kill them all and let the fish sort them out.

I doubt it.

She'll write a book, people will remember the NAME, and then buy it, keeping her rich as usual.

She's in and out of jail so much, I think she's a drug mule.
And what's with nightclubs not having a Do Not Serve sign with her picture ? Sick of it ~ moving on. She's no tallent. Put her away. Give us a break. I'd rather hear she got beat up in jail than another accident out. Someone get killed or she kills herself as an alcoholic.
Save her from herselve, put her in.

My my what a bunch of nasty comments. And all of you are just perfect I'm sure. Lindsay can't control herself and those of you that think she can are full of it. She's got some screws loose in her noggin and unless she has brain surgery or some other means of getting rid of them she will remain as she is. Some day science is going to finally find out that when people are that erratic there's a physical reason for it somewhere.

In the meantime, we have to draw lines in the sand and punish people who hit other people and violate the law.

All I can say is if Lohan wasn't famous, she'd STILL be in jail for the necklace theft. If she was black, she'd be in prison for years.

sorry fastdraw2 but the nasty comments are nothing more than the majority of the news reading public believes. And they are entitled to freedom of speech but lets get it straight the girl derserves a stiffer sentence than an ordinary citezen as all of these stars beleive AND HAVE PROVED that they are ENTITLED and o not have to play by the same rukes as everyone else. If these acts were your or mine we would have been locked up and hit with heavy fines for sure. Taking a neckless without permission GIVE ME A BREAK its called theft!!!!!! Please news people leave ths low life out of our news, after all it is not news but a performance. AND OBVIOUSLY SHE IS NOT GOOD AT THAT EITHER!

I'm sick of seeing this nit-wit AND her family in the news. How much money are they going to waste dragging her to court? Let her self destruct and be done with it. I'm sure she will OD or maybe drive off a cliff or something. Donate the money to something good like, the homeless, for example.
