Awards season has arrived with a vengeance. There isn't a day this week that doesn't have some kind of awards ceremony or nomination announcement in it.
The highlight, of course, is the annual Grammy Nominations Concert, televised live from Nashville, Tenn., on CBS Wednesday night. LL Cool J and Taylor Swift are co-hosts. The nominees announced this week will vie for the Grammy Awards at the annual ceremony in February.
Holiday movies 2012
Most of the other events are movie-related. Get ready to find out the winners prizes from the New York Film Critics Circle on Monday, the National Board of Review on Wednesday and the Los Angeles Film Critics on Saturday. The Writer's Guild will announce its nominations on Thursday.
Some of the films being honored haven't even opened yet. Among them is "Hyde Park on Hudson" -- with Bill Murray as FDR -- which is coming to theaters this Friday. Also opening Friday is "Playing for Keeps" with Gerard Butler and Dennis Quaid and the indie "Deadfall" with Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Kris Kristofferson and Sissy Spacek
Another prize winner -- "Beasts of the Southern Wild" -- is being released on Blu-Ray and DVD Tuesday, along with "The Dark Knight Rises," "Hope Springs" and "The Odd Life of Timothy Green."
Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012 highlights
Also on Tuesday is one of the week's highlights for TV watchers -- the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Taped earlier this fall in New York, the show airs on CBS and will feature performances by Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Bruno Mars.
On Saturday, look for TV host Mario Lopez to tie the knot with Courtney Mazza in a two-hour TLC special.
The relatively few albums being released this week includes Ke$ha's "Warrior."
Among the books hitting store shelves and e-readers this week is "Dogfight" by journalist and humorist Calvin Trillin and "Empress of Fashion," Amanda Mackenzie Stuart's biography of Diana Vreeland.
