Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga on the upcoming "Boy Meets World" spinoff, "Girl Meets World," but it appears that Cory's best friend won't be dropping by -- at least, for now.
Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter on the popular series, took to his blog to weigh in on whether or not his character will be returning.
"At this point, I have no official involvement" Strong said of the Disney channel pilot, which will focus on Cory and Topanga's 13-year-old daughter, Riley.
He added that he is "extremely happy" that Savage and Fishel will be "able to continue the story."
But Strong didn't rule out the possibility of Shawn -- or other "Boy Meets World" characters -- making appearances on the new show.
"There might be a chance to see some of the 'BMW' cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years," he wrote.
"But 'Girl Meets World' will be, and I think it should be, its own show," he continued. "It's about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters. It's the next generation. And I, for one, can't wait to see it evolve."

Too bad he didn't become the next C. Thomas Howell.
They also need small roles for other old teen show has beens. Like a guest spot for Erin Moran (Happy Days/Joanie Loves Chachi) as some old drunk granny on the loose. Maybe the school's evil cafeteria manager serving up sweet and sour kitty cat. And Scott Baio as the dirty old janitor with a "glory hole" punched in the wall of the girl's locker room. Fonzi could show up as the pushy salesman neighbor who constantly hounds Cory and Topanga about getting their parents (and by now ancient Mr. Feeny) to buy a reverse mortgage from him.
Mario Lopez and Mark Paul Gosselaar (Saved By the Bell) could play a gay couple living next door who often babysit for Cory and Topanga. Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains) could play the local megachurch preacher who repeatedly tries to seduce Topanga (or with whom either Lopez or Gosslaar are secretly cheating). Jerry Mathers (Beaver) could be the town mayor. Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) could be a trampy "bad teacher" at the school, right out of college, who has a "benefits" relationship with colleague Shawn, who's recently come into some inherited money.
I would even watch that show. Put it on Comedy Central NOT Disney.
